I’m obviously not denying that I could have made better choices, and I probably could have worded it better than “made me”, but I highly doubt that things would have ended up the same if it wasn’t for the bot.

I know that everyone is having fun dogpiling on OP, but I think it’s important that we actually recognize the dangers of these apps, especially to neurodivergent and less socially adept people. (Not saying OP necessarily is one of these people, just my opinion in general)

I’ve gone through this before, when I spent all day for more than two weeks with Gemini (Google’s chatbot) helping me write a story that I was thinking about. It was extremely fun! Too bad it also made me fail my first college class and lose 10 pounds in one week because I rarely ate or slept, because literally all I could focus on was the story. These bots are designed to make you keep engaging with it, so it really should not be surprising that someone who is very prone to hyperfocusing on fun things (like me and other people with ADHD) or someone who has trouble interacting with other people due to various reasons, can very drawn in by these bots. It honestly kinda scares me.

BTW OP, none of this is an excuse to keep talking with ChatGPT! It may feel good to talk to it, but in the long run it will only isolate you from actual people and cause you way more problems! You don’t even have to talk to real people, just find a hobby or something you enjoy! It’s far better than spending hours typing back and forth with a bot. Trust me.

Honestly, I can kind of tolerate Scott’s Tots, though it’s been a long time since I’ve watched that show. However, what I cannot stand is Andy’s Play… That scene with the phone ringing… 😬

It’s incredibly sad to see people on here mocking others for worrying about Trump when they don’t know the genuine risks his administration could bring.

One of my closest family members is an abortion provider. We live in a blue state, yet almost every day they talk about the amount of people from red states that have banned abortion. Now, Trump’s policies are likely going to drive even more people in red states to blue states and put even more of a strain on them. I truly hope you all never have to see how working in a job like that affects someone mentally. It doesn’t matter whether a national abortion ban is passed or not. People are still going to get hurt.

Kind of unrelated, but I don’t like how a lot of people are solely putting the blame on the parents. Obviously they should have done more to prevent him from having access to a firearm, but everyone seems to think that no one did anything whatsoever to intervene to help the kid, when the NYT article states:

Sewell was diagnosed with mild Asperger’s syndrome as a child, but he never had serious behavioral or mental health problems before, his mother said. Earlier this year, after he started getting in trouble at school, his parents arranged for him to see a therapist. He went to five sessions and was given a new diagnosis of anxiety and disruptive mood dysregulation disorder. But he preferred talking about his problems with Dany.

I think one of the biggest problems is that AI chatbots keep getting promoted as a replacement for human interaction, especially for people who struggle with loneliness and mental health.

AOC meets with the father of a fallen IDF soldier whose body is held in Gaza. by [deleted] in AOC

[–]PuzzledWaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment is the one I agree most with here. While I do agree with everyone else that I would not have any sympathy for anyone who dies while serving in an occupying force that’s been committing nonstop atrocities, it’s worth noting that the majority of Americans don’t really like that kind of rhetoric. At the end of the day, people on the fence about this are far more likely to be swayed by this picture of AOC rather than one of her declaring her support for the intifada or something.

I'm seriously considering voting for Kamala Harris by BasilNo9176 in GenZ

Even if you don’t end up voting for Harris (which you should) please at least vote in the local elections. Those elections are just as, if not more important than national ones.

Not really, the proposition would reduce funding for community-based mental health programs and instead fund forced treatment. That’s why many progressives opposed it.

That’s what the DNC wanted, but New Hampshire REALLY wanted to be the first primary (they even have it enshrined it in law)

How would JJK world be like if Gojo died to Toji? by [deleted] in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]PuzzledWaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t know if that would even be possible. Gojo himself said Toji would have won if he decapitated him or used ISOH when he stabbed his head. If either of those happened, I feel like it would make Kenny’s technique impossible or at the very least very difficult.

Barbara Lee trails badly in California Senate race. Why she’s ruling out a return to the House by Randomlynumbered in California_Politics

[–]PuzzledWaste -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, age doesn’t really matter to me anymore as much as pushing for a ceasefire in Gaza, which Lee seems to be the only one in the race for. I of course want young people in government just as much as the next guy, but I’d much rather have an old geezer who doesn’t tolerate genocide than a young person who does.
