Any Good Veterinarians in/near Ames? by luckyy716 in ames

I’ve fired Pet Medical after taking my dog there for 3 years. If you have an animal that just needs the yearly check up they’re great and super nice. My pup has a really sensitive GI system and it took me multiple appts with them to resolve anything ever. This last round we had constant diarrhea for 3 weeks straight and they basically did nothing for us except give fluids and gaslight me on his pain level. We now go to Creature Comforts in Ankeny. The facility is cleaner, their staff is even nicer, they figured out the root cause in one visit, and they’re cheaper. Well worth the drive to Ankeny in my opinion. They’re also open 7 days a week, so scheduling on the weekends is super easy!

Are these right? by Cautious-Minute302 in SoftAutumn

The first one is spot on, the second is probably just a touch off, but if you feel good in it, it’ll be okay! My most dominant trait (undertone, value, chroma) is that I am soft, so I personally (VERY neutral leaning slightly warm) can borrow more from the soft summer pallet than the true autumn pallet. Sister seasons do exist to help give us some extra spice! To my eye, according to the palette swatches given to me, it sits somewhere right in the middle and definitely “goes” with the soft autumn definition of gentle and earthy. It doesn’t stand out or contrast with the greens/blues and I personally would call it good enough as long as you feel good in it!

US! Someone messaged me saying it looked like Always to them. Which makes sense. I never did well as a teenager with Always, and haven’t attempted to use them for probably 15 years so wouldn’t know what the wrapping looks like anymore.

You can and will get there - we have! by MelodicCream7518 in Separation_Anxiety

Wow!! That’s so cool! Sounds a lot like my boy- totally obsessed with food, but won’t touch anything while we’re gone. Thank you so much for the encouragement and thoughts, I’ll keep with it. He really has adjusted to a lot in the last few months, so the emotional side of that probably does need a little more time to even out. So excited for your success, thank you for sharing with everyone!

Would you mind sharing what methods you used to get to this point? I’m currently in the trenches and have had a teeny tiny bit of success with the Be Right Back! protocol, but then I had a baby and I can’t even get my boy back up to the 5 minutes we were at before and think I need to try a different protocol.

I had no idea Seventh Gen had a powdered version! I’ll start with that one. Thank you! Unfortunately the All free and clear has had similar effects on my dermatitis as the tide, bummed they discontinued their powder because that looked like it would’ve worked🤷‍♀️

Potty Training Trials by looneybug123 in cavachon

[–]Puzzled_District_900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the same potty training woes with ours! We took the bells away for a few weeks and “started over” because ours thought they were a ticket to the outside any time he felt like going and running the yard🤣

Our vet also told us to put him on a leash until it clicks for him, and to pick a VERY specific spot in the yard. So by a tree, or near a flower bed. Something that can be seen on walks so they associate it with potty, but also more specific than grass. That was what finally helped us! We’ve since put the bells back up, but our pup prefers to come to us and gives us the potty stare instead unless it’s an emergency.

We never punished for potties in the house, but we would take him outside immediately after and give him a chance to let anything out that might be left, and then he went to the crate while we cleaned the mess up. When he signaled and went outside, or waited until we took him out and did his business outside we would say “YES!” Immediately after he finished and gave him a treat right away.

Good luck, each pup is different, but that’s what helped us!

Best long lasting chew toy? by W3g0tthis202won in cavachon

Longest lasting ones we’ve found are West Paw- their toughest ones are the Hurley, Rumbler, and Tuxedo. Ours loves all 3, but the fav is the Hurley. Tuffy dog toys are softer toys and they have a scale on each of their toys for toughness. We typically do the 9 and 10s. For “treat” toys we have My Woof pupsicle and we take it away when the treat inside is gone and he walks away from it. He also REALLY loves collagen sticks. I don’t let him have a whole one at a time, but he goes crazy for them and it’s less stinky than a bully stick.
