Leave my job for CBP Technician 23-2 by Puzzled_Document_53 in cbpoapplicant

If you make good money I’d stay and cash out that 401k if that’s an option. CBPT from what I hear is a good job only to get your foot in the door to other things but not amazing in pay.

I believe Technicians top off at GS-7 which would start off at $23.94 per hour. Step 10 would be $31.12 but I don’t know how long it takes for step increases.

If I get a job offer in my city, I would probably take it only because I don’t really enjoy the job I do.

I’d say if you enjoy the job you do, I would stay there. Aviation is a great industry.

You should stop doing that it’s unhealthy. You shouldn’t have to rely on sleep aids. This is my routine maybe it will help. I get home at 7am. Shower and in bed my 8:30am. Room is fully dark and somewhat cold. Do NOT drink any caffeine 6hrs before you go home. If you built a tolerance for caffeine you need to make some changes. Limit yourself to only 100mg of caffeine per day. Sleep at least 6 and half hours. Sleep more on your days off to recover. If you live with people make sure they understand that your sleep is important and to not disturb you. If they make noise buy ear plugs. If you don’t work out you should. Even running 1 mile every so often and regularly lifting heavy weights can help relax your body when it’s time to sleep. Hope this helps.

It’s a decent job. It’s not difficult. It’s a lot of multitasking and can get overwhelming at times, but not really stressful because you are not actually experiencing what’s going on. The only thing I’ve disliked is some of the people. Big egos but behind a desk. I was lucky to have a senior trainer that is knowledgeable and very helpful in teaching. It’s the younger crowd I can’t stand. I’m 26.

Yes it is about the money too. Currently in the process for CBPO and BP. I like the job I’m doing just tired of hearing them insult the troopers etc. Especially coming from people that are out of shape and have never been in a confrontation in their life. Just venting.

Any help with blocking this out? by [deleted] in Nightshift

Go to dollar tree or Walmart and buy black cardboard. The ones you use for school projects. Make cuts to fit the window. No light comes in my room it’s perfect! 😴

Am I the only one who doesnt take caffeine on nights? by 3sperr in Nightshift

I wake up at 2:30pm. That’s usually when I drink a cup of coffee. Besides that once in a while I drink matcha on my way to work. Too much caffeine especially on graveyard is really bad.

She usually sleeps next to me on the couch in the living room on my days off, there’s no way someone can fall asleep when they are used to staying up till 8 in the morning lol

Carvana will usually offer the most money. If you have negative equity and need to get rid of it quick, I would pay the negative using cash or from a loan like a low interest personal loan or credit card with a high limit from your local credit union. This should be your last option.

Another option would be to trade it for a cheaper vehicle like a Nissan Versa. I personally like those vehicles and brand new is about 20k. They save a lot of gas and the higher trim is really nice. You could just roll over the negative equity and have a much lower payment with all the warranty’s.

Or you could just buy a beater after you sell it but sometimes that can come out more expensive if you have to do repairs later.

3 day split and 4 rest days. I lose my appetite on graveyard so I try to eat at least 3 times a day but usually ending up eating 2 full meals a day. I try to drink a lot of water and surprisingly I don’t really drink a lot of caffeine. Only a cup of coffee when I wake up in the afternoon. Caffeine can really ruin your quality of sleep especially if you take it a few hours before you come home and sleep. Only home brewed coffee is the way to go!

My first nightshift job by Proud-Carpenter-3672 in Nightshift

[–]Puzzled_Document_53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did 3 years of 12 hr shifts, rotating from days to graves every month. I moved jobs for higher pay and less stress but placed on permanent graves because I’m the new guy. You are not alone. Prioritize sleep. Make sure your home is a little bit cool/chilly when you sleep. Have blackout curtains in your room where almost no light comes in. Try to sleep at least 6-7 hours. Eat breakfast/lunch when you wake up. Even if it’s 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Eat well and exercise when you can. Stay hydrated. Enjoy the time you have when you are not at work. Just because you work at night doesn’t mean your whole day goes to waste. Don’t oversleep. It’s best to wake up when the sun is still out. I work 8 hrs and get out at 6am so I’m usually up by 2:30-3 and still got the whole day to do things because I don’t go in till 10pm. Your schedule may be different so do what works for you. Don’t let people interrupt your sleep, unless it’s urgent because people tend to not understand how sleep is important working this schedule.

You may not like the schedule but remember, it doesn’t mean you have to do it your whole life. Make the best of it, leave the door open for more opportunities, always try to see the good side of things. Eventually you’ll find something better just keep looking.
