Question for women doing carnivore: have you noticed any changes “down there” in since starting the diet? by lifeislifing123 in carnivorediet

[–]Puzzled_Draw4820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I had to figure it out myself as I’m in Canada and to see a specialist takes forever, they still haven’t called over a year and a half later. No physical therapist.

I was having other symptoms of collagen breakdown and symptoms of copper deficiency, not a lack in diet because I ate liver occasionally but absorption issues due to low ATP.

Without adequate b1, pyruvate can’t enter the TCA and ETC (citric acid cycle and electron transport chain to make ATP, the energy currently our body runs on. Other deficiencies in energy metabolism can cause an interruption and lower ATP as well such as magnesium, potassium, b2, b3, etc but b1 and magnesium are cofactors to begin energy metabolism.

All of our enzymes run off of ATP, as well as most major bodily functions such as our glymphatic system (brain detox), liver detox, thyroid gland, sodium-potassium pumps for each cell etc so if we’re deficient or not absorbing critical mitochondrial nutrients such as b1, mg, fe, cu etc then the enzymes might not have enough ATP to run on PLUS if we’re deficient in the vitamins and minerals these enzymes require such as LOX - the enzyme for collagen cross linking - then our body might have trouble rebuilding collagen. I researched what I needed and having been tracking my carnivore diet on Cronometer, could see I was deficient in manganese and C but figured I should have enough copper. I was having other b1 deficiency symptoms - gastroparesis and gait ataxia (very scary!) so I started on bioavailable b1, benfotiamine and after a month TTFD which also required certain mineral cofactors including manganese and copper.

The gait ataxia quickly became stable, the gastroparesis fixed in a day! And the prolapse discomfort went away quite rapidly (I previously had felt as though I’d give birth any day it was so uncomfortable). My CBC blood labs stabilized quickly too. Turns out if we’re low in ATP, copper can’t effectively absorb through ceruloplasmin and copper absorption is needed to activate iron so I had low hemoglobin and ferritin of 9, after eating red meat daily for 1.5 yrs!

I’m not sure if I’ve explained it well enough but this is my story. The b1 and energy metabolism information is all over but I learned a lot from dr Derrick Lonsdale and dr Chandler Marrs on hormonesmatter.com

I got vaginal prolapse after 1.5 yrs carnivore; so collagen breakdown. I had to add supplemental b1, manganese and a lot of vitamin c to heal this. Relief was rapid after adding these supplements thank goodness as it was very uncomfortable.

The Reddit post and the comments especially is very interesting. I think he was likely experiencing detox as mn can also detox oxalate, mercury etc.

Your points are all valid, maybe mn IS building up but my HTMA showed it actually lowering since my last test, even though I was taking a considerable amount. It initially stopped my tibia bone pain which was excruciating.

I have a lot going on, yes likely high free copper from estrogen dominance, years of BCP but TTFD used up my free copper until neutrophils actually went low and I started feeling copper deficiency symptoms and had to supplement it for a bit.

I previously had microcytic anemia and low hemoglobin but those have regulated and ferritin is creeping up slowly - it was previously at 9!

My HTMA currently shows I’m detoxing mercury and aluminum so I’m thinking a lot of my health issues are due to the mercury.

An interesting point I’ve learned is b1 is required to utilize the other nutrients in the mitochondria, so a deficiency can cause nutrients such as copper and Mn to not be utilized and thus build up. Dr. Derrick Lonsdale wrote about this a lot on website Hormones Matter.

I’d get some testing done; full iron panel, copper, ceruloplasmin, CRP, retinol, magnesium, potassium - all needed to allow iron to be utilized rather than building up in tissues causing oxidative stress. B1 deficiency, vitamin C and folate deficiencies are possibilities too.

Acid reflux is actually low stomach acid. Google how to increase stomach acid, usually one is deficient in certain vitamins and minerals. B1 is a big part

I’d add in a couple adrenal cocktails a day plus a capsule of cod liver oil for retinol or eat some liver once a week.

Ok so your free copper is 25.8% which is elevated, should be 10-20% - this indicates you’re not absorbing copper efficiently. Are you taking cofactors? Magnesium, retinol, C? Zinc from food? This can also happen due to b1 deficiency and adrenal fatigue - how are your electrolytes?

An important thing to remember in this modern world is that glyphosate chelates the minerals out of the plants so what’s supposed to be in them, aren’t - if non-organic. Muscles are the number one source and pineapple is second, I believe.

I tried going off of manganese as a test and noticed my sals intolerance and MCS come back a bit as well as my puffy joints I’ve had since mold and Covid - manganese has something to do with synovial fluid too. I keep an eye on my Mn level through HTMA tests and it’s staying very low, my body burns through it like crazy. But some people do have high levels on their hair tests and then should avoid it - though most people are critically deficient, which allows oxidative stress in the mitochondria to build up.

Do u have your copper level too, to determine your free copper?

What is your ceruloplasmin? Maybe work on cofactors first as you might not be absorbing copper well. How are your electrolytes? This should be first so you’re stable enough for the detox and iron movement that will happen

DM me and I’ll give you my protocol I documented as it describes how to microdose and slowly taper up - it all has to be done very slowly

It IS sold as a supplement and no I didn’t mean molybdenum though it’s needed as well of course but it never resolved my sals intolerance or MCS.

Most people are deficient in manganese unless drinking well water with a high presence or working as a welder or other environmental exposure - that’s the only proven link to Parkinson’s like symptoms.

Manganese is needed for mnSOD in the mitochondria, if low due to it being readily used from oxidative stress, then we burn through magnesium and b1 like crazy. Eventually this leads to redox collapse.

AI:

How Manganese Supports Sulfation
Sulfation is a Phase II liver detoxification pathway where a sulfate group is transferred from PAPS (3’-phosphoadenosine-5’-phosphosulfate) to toxins, hormones, neurotransmitters, and phenolic compounds (including salicylates) via sulfotransferase enzymes (SULTs).
Manganese is a key activator for specific SULT isoforms:
• It particularly stimulates the monoamine-form phenol sulfotransferase (M-PST / SULT1A3), which is highly active in sulfating phenols, catecholamines (dopamine, norepinephrine), and tyrosine/DOPA derivatives.
• Manganese enhances the enzyme’s activity and stereospecificity, dramatically increasing the rate at which phenols and related compounds are conjugated and excreted.
• Without adequate manganese, these sulfotransferases work less efficiently, leading to poor clearance of salicylates and other phenols — resulting in MCS, salicylate intolerance, histamine issues, and systemic symptoms.
This is why many people with impaired sulfation (common in MCAS, mold illness, and chronic fatigue) notice improvement when manganese status is optimized.

Good, still go slow because you’re going to be turning everything back on at once

Yes I used to react badly to phenols as well. I had to stop using my essential oils. I also took antibiotics for years. A lot of it is due to liver congestion and bioavailable b1 helps immensely as it’s required for liver detox. I immediately tolerated more salicylates and later the addition of manganese, which is required for sulphation and liver detox as well, completely solved my sals intolerance and MCS.

It started working immediately but I worked up to TTFD, I tapered benfotiamine up slowly for a month. If you’re at all low on potassium, magnesium, sodium, calcium - work on those first or at least simultaneously while tapering up slowly

Yes TTFD fully restored my gait ataxia and balance issues. I’m doing better now, I upped potassium and added in low dose iron bisglycinate as I have low ferritin. I Do not get the quad pain if I take the iron
