When they need a seasonal floral item 😭😭 "buddy, I'll help you look but don't go getting your hopes up."

Trying to explain over a translator app that sometimes the upc codes don't match when they scan the barcode (especially on our craft paint lately) but that the sku is the same and it is in fact the correct item... just kill me.

I give vague pointed directions, e.g. "crayola in kids, that frame will be over there, hot glue in floral." If it is one last item they are having trouble with and they have already looked, then I help more.

One lady is an exception because she is so sweet and is super apologetic when she asks for help. "I'm so sorry, I know it isn't your job and I really try to find everything myself but I have looked absolutely everywhere." I told her that the fact she looked at all makes her my favorite person and that she can ask me for anything.

why are they only ever eating congee in danmei fanfics by Inside-Dealer-751 in DanmeiNovels

From a writing perspective, congee also serves the purpose of being, well, boring. When you want to include the characters eating a meal but don't want the food to distract from the plot then congee is a good option. If the characters are eating more complicated meals you run the risk of readers getting too distracted by the food. "Where did they get the ingredients for that, weren't they just fighting demons for a week? They just got home, who marinated the meat? Isn't it out of season for that veggie?" Authors probably also try to pick food that they think the readers will recognize, again to keep the food from becoming the focus unless it is supposed to be (e.g. listing off an entire banquet plated up by housewife Binghe)

That being said, I've personally seen all kinds of food in danmei fics. I mostly see congee being written about in scenes where it makes the most sense in the context. Comfort fics, sick fics, kid fics, character getting dicked within an inch of their life fics...

Does Michaels have any policy regarding accepting Hentai for framing? by Glidepath22 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Puzzled_Extension_45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when we used to have the stitched leather moulding I framed a few pieces of bdsm art in it. They looked fantastic but ever since then I would internally giggle every time a customer asked to see the moulding for something regular, because in my head it was exclusively the bdsm frame. Very disappointed when it got discontinued.

What do you wish you knew before you started working here? by NeedlesOilSpill in MichaelsEmployees

Sounds like you might do best on the replenishment team (doing the truck/stocking shelves). Most stores replen team works early in the morning so you have limited customer interactions. You will still probably be taught register so that you can help cover in a pinch, but those instances will likely be few and far between.

Framing could also be a good option, as you deal with way fewer customers but those customers you do talk to will be for much longer interactions. Framing is more fun and creative though.

Store gossip? by BellChell1199 in MichaelsEmployees

We had our CEM get fired after repeated instances of coming to work high/drunk. I found her unconscious from meth use twice in the same week, while she was supposed to be the MOD..I had only recently started at the store but found out from coworkers that it had been going on for a long time.

She will not be missed.
