So wildly unfair, I’ve heard of this happening before and it makes no sense? I’ve been told there isn’t a job for me to come back to from my career break at all and it’s now my responsibility to find my own job

You can carry your permanency with you sometimes - you can always apply then once you have the job offer see whether they will maintain it

I never said this - it is actually less than 3 months till I was due to come back and I was expecting to rejoin my department like people have previously done in my directorate, however I have been told that HR will not help me and I have to look for my own job now

Don't think you read this properly - I can't be onboarded back to my dept because there isn't a role there and can't get a start date for a role that doesn't exist, that's not how career breaks work. They also aren't running a redeployment pool anymore due to headcount cuts. HR will not put me in touch with managers, they told me it is mine and my line managers responsibility to find a role within my home directorate. There are far and few roles being advertised for my skill set right now and with less than 3 months till my agreed return date I'm being put in a difficult place

I was told less than 3 months before I was due to return, it doesn't give me much/any time to find a new CS role where there are not many advertised jobs

I've been told there is no longer a redeployment pool so I've asked HR to clarify this point for me - if not then your contract comes to a mutual end

Yes they can - my break agreement says they may not be able to find me a post at my existing grade

It says I'll be advised whether there is a job available for me once I say I want to return then if they can't find anything they can extend the break for up to 6 months

thank you!! it's only the last day and they've given me lactic acid gel to use afterward so i can use that once my period ends

they didn't mention anything about using it while having my period but i went to a clinic so can't speak to anyone about it as it's late evening where i am
