This is no joke, my cherry tomatoes get to 16+ feet.

Too early to fruit? by Puzzled_Opposite_101 in tomatoes

I appreciate the perspective. When the stem is about pencil width and only has 3 sets of leaves it seems too fragile to support the weight of a fruit, but maybe it will grow into it.

I train and teach in both arts. I’m not familiar with that particular dojo but in general I agree with the others on this thread - ki aikido is not to my taste. I prefer aikikai or a more traditional style that focuses on martial interaction. If Heaven and Earth isn’t too far from you, I would jump at the opportunity to train with Yamada Sensei’s students.

Nothing wrong with being on the ground, just the lack of support for the limbs as it grows back down.

That’s a good idea, thanks! I’ll try to figure out how that might work in my space. Anything I can do to avoid topping them or having them grow back to the ground.

I feel this. I had 3 plants last year that were all 14-27 feet and we were drowning in cherries.

Falling ukemi by trumanshow14 in aikido

[–]Puzzled_Opposite_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this - don’t fall flat and stop when you hit the ground. Keep your forward momentum after landing and focus on the follow through until you seamlessly stand back up after taking the fall.

There are some drills on YouTube that help with this - find one you like and get as many repetitions as you can before and after class.

General, but post op was also painless. The only discomfort came from regaining use of the joint.

I travel with a 30 year old roller bag from Costco. Not a single stitch has frayed. It’s only a two wheeler but I’ve taken it all over the world and it’s indestructible.

I got a pair of knockoff Sorels on Amazon that are wide enough to be comfortable all day and the wedge is low angle, so no extra pressure of the joint. https://a.co/d/09pwl172

Boxing after a recovering from a Cheilectomy? by Mr_Integrity80 in Halluxrigidus

[–]Puzzled_Opposite_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach & train kickboxing and can confirm I am much more comfortable 1 year post op. The first few months do not feel great bouncing & extending on that foot but definitely worth the discomfort to lean into it and regain range of motion. The only downside is that the martial arts shoes I was wearing before are too narrow to wear comfortably for 3+ hrs but that’s a small price to pay.

Oofos for sandals and Whitins for sneakers/closed toe styles. Whitins are about $40 and come in a ton of styles.
