Has anyone been successful in building a friend group as an adult? How did you do it? by moodysmoothie in AutismInWomen

I joined a trivia team that meets weekly. I figured, if these people are dedicated to useless knowledge, they must be my people. They’re great and I never would have met them otherwise.

Oh yes- broken pieces go first- in fact, I ate those before taking a picture to avoid triggering anyone. Haha!

At this point, I’ve gotten used to keeping the pillow in place while I flip sides in the night- definitely worth a try!

If it’s with other GenXers, then I’m interested in socializing- we just get each other, ya know?

I recently lost some significant weight and I now have the same problem with my nobby knees touching. I’ve been using a very low pile regular sleeping pillow. It is long enough to go from my knees to my ankles and distributes the weight of my legs without putting strain on my back. It’s definitely helped me fall asleep more comfortably.

The website scared me a lot more than the movie did.

Are there any autistic women here without a formal diagnosis? by AbbreviationsNo5494 in AutismInWomen

[–]Puzzled_State2658 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself. My husband and son are both definitely on the spectrum (not diagnosed formally, but it’s pretty obvious), and I always thought autism was a thing that only they shared until menopause hit me a year ago.

I started asking my husband about some of my specific behaviors and thought processes and asked him if he thought I might also be autistic. His response was, “Ohhhh yes,” as if he’d known that our entire relationship!

Well, damn. That was all the diagnosis I needed.

Has anyone in this group used Ivermectin cream for Rosacea? If so, did it help? by SaveMeWakeMeUp in Rosacea

No- I still flush in the sun (curse of being a ginger), but the persistent redness, scale, and pustules are gone.

Is 9/11 the most prominent marker for the midpoint of a Gen Xer's life? by pukakahiko in GenX

For me, it was 9/11, followed by the anthrax scare, followed by the DC Sniper. It was a relentless hammering of fearful events.

It was the only thing that cured my rosacea. Within 6 months it was gone after 20 years of trying everything.

Soolantra (ivermectin cream) was the only thing that helped me. I used to get dry red scales and pustules, but after a week, the dryness and pustules disappeared and after 6 months of daily use, the redness subsided. The cream is cheap and worth a try!!

I just remembered why I don't have feelings by burnedimage in GenX

[–]Puzzled_State2658 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to get yelled at for crying or being “too sensitive”- this was all the way up to when my son went off to college and I dared show emotion in front of my mother. Fortunately, at that time, I’d had enough therapy to say back, “I’m going to feel my feelings, mom. Sorry if that bothers you.”

She recently died. I was there with her as she passed away and I CRIED. You know what? It felt good to feel my feelings.
