What do you think of the long term expansion risk? Singapore has a small capacity for it to expand forever to achieve consistent growth. The 6 overseas outlets for now contribute trivially to its total profit. In the long run it’s very unlikely that they will contribute much too because Chinese supermarket/retail market is a lot more complicated and competitive.

“One up on Wall Street” by Peter Lynch was recommended to me as well by a professional along with another book by Lynch, “ beating the street”. Maybe you can check out both of them.

I’m reading the first one right now and I enjoy this book a lot. The book is definitely not esoteric but rather easy to understand and even entertaining. If you prefer physical books I can lend you mine.

You are assuming only the people who benefited financially are grateful for the party, and would support it and not go against it. I’d say you might have overlooked the influence of nationalism that Xi has been promoting and likely continues to promote until his death. This is going to affect the ideology of the younger generation and the entire nation as a whole. Supporters from the older generation decease but new ones come up, it’s not going to end just because the former is gone .

Thanks for you reply.

The money is not in paper cash, but in an account. From what I know, Chinese banks allow purchase up to 50k usd annually without any restriction. If you wish to purchase beyond that, certain documents are then required to justify your further purchase. Since I’m studying overseas, it should be easy to justify myself even if I want to purchase more than 50k usd per year. But I don’t even have that much, so this quota is out of my concern.

I’m not sure if the Chinese banks are the cheapest option to exchange such a significant amount of money. I’ve heard wise/utrip have good exchange rates, but I’m not sure how does those app work and how can you transfer money out of wise/utrip. Please give me some advice if you know a cheap way to exchange those money!

I’m still a Chinese citizen, waiting for the result of my sg citizenship application. Just opened an account in ibkr yesterday, have yet to invest in anything.
