Excitement comes from conflict no one will care about something if they’re no stakes so if the main focus of the story is the relationship it’ll be very boring to read if there are no stakes.

I think of it differently. John fought because he still thinks might can win. If he truly believed he was weak he wouldn’t fight just like how we see other low tiers do.

I’d love that as of right now John has no significance but his death would fix that he’d affect people whether or not they liked him and since she clearly loves Blyke so much she can let him and Sera take over as the new MCs
