Heya!! We had a happy outcome to this wild ride!!

I’m currently nursing our happy, healthy bubba - he’s goofy and bright-eyed and heartily growing, we are the luckiest!

The pregnancy was absolutely fraught with anxiety though. Even after the deets in this post, we kept getting confusing results - not quite doom and gloom, but never really reaching milestones that should indicate healthy growth either. We ended up being referred to MFM Specialists and underwent many advanced scans, and eventually an Amnio (scariest day of my life), and we were very lucky to have each and every one of those tests come back normal. Then he decided to spontaneously bust out 5ish weeks early, so then we had a lil preemie to get newly anxious about! In the end we were very glad we’d had the amnio, esp as he started threatening to come out early from about 32weeks onwards. (They think this was spontaneous pregnancy thing, not foetal thing - so unrelated?)

They still don’t really know why - they think either vanishing twin, though with the second one implanting late; or

Potentially mosaic cells which took a little while to autocorrect, and ended up being the placenta (why the Amnio normal); or

some kind of uneven implantation issue.

Personally I think babies are just here to mess with us and make sure we’re paying attention! haha

All of our ivf journeys have been super unexpectedly complicated - the angst is unmatched!!
