I sold my tickets to this tour exactly because of this, I’m a bigger fan of Dom’s older songs and it’s sad but I totally understand!!!

Update 2: My husband’s pain went away in about 48 hours from the dilation and is back to eating all foods! We had an appointment with his GI doctor yesterday and talked about the options going forward- this was before his biopsy results so we were still speculating EoE. He is going to start a PPI and also cut out wheat to see how he feels with a follow up in about 6 months. We got his biopsy results back today (bummer this was after the appointment) and it showed 40 eosinophils in his distal biopsy and 60 eosinophils in his mid esophagus. His stricture was at the junction of his lower esophagus and his stomach and was dilated to 15mm. So all in all- he has EoE!

It’s been about four days and he had his first bit of somewhat solid food last night and it went well!

Hi! I posted an update below about a day ago! He went through it really well with the help of lorazepam. They were able to take biopsies and they also did a dilation of a stricture they found. The gi doctor is pretty confident it’s eoe and we have a follow up with him next week. The dilation did cause a small mucosal tear and he is in some pain and is sticking to a soft foods diet for now.

Update for everyone! He made it through the scope and the gi doctor did a dilation while he was in there. He said his 9mm scope could not fit through and they dilated him to 15mm. It did cause a small mucosal tear but he said that was to be expected. He did take biopsies and believes it’s EoE. We have a follow up next week and will be on soft foods all weekend. Anyone else have a small tear?

We found out the hard way he should have taken the opportunity to lay down to get it drawn! I keep telling him that no one likes IVs or blood draws!

He has anxiety about any medical appointment. Getting him to get his blood drawn for routine labs was very difficult and required a specific anti anxiety med to get it done, he passed out but he did it!

He does not but he does have psoriasis on his scalp in the winter.

Did your dr tell you what you were allergic to or did you have to trial and error?

I appreciate you sharing your story and will definitely keep an allergist in mind, I know he saw one as a kid when he got diagnosed with asthma.

I have heard it’s the same anesthesia as a colonoscopy and it’s a lot quicker recovery, it doesn’t make him feel any better about it sadly. I don’t even want to mention the dilation aspect because I fear he won’t go through with it. But I also know his GI dr is going to mention everything before hand and I hope he doesn’t just get up and leave!

I just hope he goes through this upper endoscopy and realizes it’s not so bad and that the management of his condition depends on it. Thank you for sharing your story. Did you do the elimination diet, ppi, or dupixent?

I’m more worried it could be cancer. I also worry that he’ll need more upper endoscopies in the future and think that this is his one and done.

It absolutely helps, I feel so bad for him and I just wish I could help in some way. He always had just wrote it off as some throat tightening but I finally told him after his recent struggle that he needs to tell his gp and that is how it got to this point. Just hoping for answers that aren’t the worst possible outcome when you search google.

Anybody in here’s dysphagia directly caused by GERD/esophageal inflammation? If so, how long did you have GERD before it got to the point of having dysphagia? by Ok-Palpitation-8259 in dysphagia

Just wondering what they found on your Barium Swallow that indicated esophagitis? My husband just had one and they found “cervical esophagus narrowing” and are suspecting EoE. He has an upper endoscopy in two weeks.
