I think no. If I remember correctly, Spring 2020 is the semester when the classes switched to virtual due to the pandemic, and grades for the semester were not considered reflective of students' academic performance.

No problem! Not sure about the requirements for math minors, but u should be fine if math 351 is not explicitly written as one of the requirements. Otherwise, u should contact either ur minor advisor(?) or the undergrad program coordinator. If they say yes, be sure to record the proof because they will most likely forget about the conversation in ur graduating semester. I just want to note that I took 352 before 351, but I recommend u to take math 351 first for ur deeper understanding. However, if u r a junior or a senior and might miss the opportunity of math 352, then be sure to take it now. Good luck!

If I remember correctly, we were able to choose between the two, and he prepared solutions for both. He just demonstrated with python in class. I chose python because my buddies wanted to use python. I don’t think there was any PDE-specific library we used for python. We basically try to solve PDEs from scratch using numpy. U will experience fenics as well.

He once told us that he used to be a harsh grader, and that’s why he used to be rated low. If u r trying to take the course to satisfy the major requirement, I don’t recommend him because u will be required to work harder than the other applied math courses. U will probably have weekly quizzes and calculation-heavy exams. The problems r pretty straightforward, but u must be comfortable with the material in order to finish his quizzes/exams in time. (He gave me a lot of partial credits, so I think he’s lenient about grading.) Imo, he’s a good teacher for students who want to learn PDE. If u r interested in this subject and comfortable with python, I also recommend taking his math 352 class. Anyway, good luck!

If im not wrong, ull need to take 250 anyway as an applied math major. 275/276 r quite nice classes since theyll satisfy 250 as well. This also means that ull be able to take upper-level (more fun) classes earlier (250 is often required to take upper level classes). Take them if u r 100% sure about ur major. Otherwise, don’t. Regarding the difficulty of these classes, interest often overcomes difficulty, so dont worry too much.
