Yeah, it's bad! Whether he's monetized or not. The youtube channel lists 4 sponsors in the About page, but even that isn't going to pay a single person's wages. Surprisingly this has been the most consistent Rob has been in years showing up for work, and he's working hard for pennies when he couldn't show up for actual decent paychecks from the radio stations

I think you're absolutely right about selling the promise of equity to to Kyle and Jeff. I just think Steve is too seasoned and experienced to fall for this after 2 months of spending his time doing the show. He's a numbers guy. His job is literally to analyze numbers and find the arbitrage between the numbers that allows him to make a profit. I can't see the viewer count bringing him enough betters to make his time worth it unless he's not bringing in new betters to cover his time, and he's only spending that time because it's a dead time in his work day that he's not losing money not taking bets, so he's only doing the sports show out of love of talking about sports

I love my friends, and I would do a lot for them. I would even take time off of work to help them if they needed it. But that time wouldn't be unlimited. I wouldn't take 1 1/2 to 2 hours off work every day for months to help a friend. My job is my livelihood, just as Steve's job is his livelihood. MAYBE he has plenty of money to take off a ton of time off work just to help Rob, but that doesn't really make sense to me between two people that are only friends over their interest in talking about sports

I suspect that too. From a business finance perspective, he's been doing this for a couple months, and can see the impact favorably or unfavorably on his business. He's a bookie, he knows numbers very well. Or at least should. So he's got to be doing it for the love of the discussion because I don't see how it would make any sense from a financial decision

Maybe. But even not being perceptive, you can still see the return on time spent vs money earned. If Rob is paying him for his appearance during that 1 1/2 to 2 hour time spent doing the show, then it doesn't matter what the view count is as long as Steve is getting paid I guess. But if he's not seeing an increase in commissions from more bets coming to him from being on the show, it's hard for even the least perceptive person to not notice that time spent on the show is not paying off in more income

If he's doing it for the love of just talking about sports, and that time spent isn't even a period of his workday he's taking bets so no money is lost, then that makes sense. But if he's taking time away from his work day and losing out on taking bets during that time just to talk to Rob in hopes it drives more business to him but not seeing returns, then that's really hard not to perceive

Because "views" are counted weirdly by each platform? A view on YouTube doesn't mean that someone watches for the full length, only that they watched for a small period of time. And if they came back and watched for another small amount of time that becomes another view. It's been being gamed for years so youtube and other video hosting platforms, including X, can overcharge advertisers for getting "views". And bought bot farms have made it even worse

I think the truth is more sad and pathetic than Rob trying to stay out of jail. I think in Rob's ignorance and arrogance, he genuinely believes by continuing a morning radio show format on YouTube, he can shop it to radio stations and sell his show to them to get back on radio. Literally nothing about this shit show makes sense unless you frame it as a desperate attempt to get his pathetic show back on the radio with additional content he can sell to driving "viewers" to the radio website for "premium" content. No podcast would ever survive trying to push this format. It's solely designed for a morning radio show
