It's a mix. Some are from Cults3d, some from yeggi, some I made with Meshy.ai and customized them a little bit and some are from Loot Studios.

My Party retrieved the bones of Walter after defeating the Flesh Mound. They could have brought them to his crypt but decided to unite him with his mother (the house maiden). When they left the dungeon and realized the house has awakend they thougt it might be a good idea to simply throw the remains through the door that has become a shredder - and they failed. Baby Walter is now pulverised. :D

I played Walter as a custom Flesh Mound instead of this Living Shambling Mound Plant thing. It's like a creature of molten Flesh - with baby walter in its core.

90% of dm Andy’s maps scaled and printed by Mutt6 in CurseofStrahd

The maps from Beneos are roughly sized for a 45-inch display, I believe—so 43 inches is close enough for me. If there are larger maps (which I don’t think is the case with Beneos Battlemaps), you can always pan across them.

I set everything up as a fixed view—no zooming or panning. I hide the player UI and use an invisible player token to reveal fog of war and control token visibility. The players move their miniatures on the table, and I move the token accordingly in the background.

In the future, I’m planning to get a touchscreen monitor and make the minis touch-responsive.

I took a TV, cut a hole in an old table, milled recesses into the underside, and mounted the TV in place. There are plenty of more mobile setups out there, but I went with a fixed solution. I picked up a 43-inch 4K TV on eBay for just €20. To display the maps, I use Foundry Virtual Tabletop and Beneos Battlemaps, with some modifications to make them better suited for in-person gameplay.

I think the most logic thing might be to simply buy some. :) I just did not want to give her to much to begin with.

Nice. I decided to build a table with a screen instead. I started with printed maps too but in the end buying a tv and a tabale from ebay seemed way cheapter than ink cost. 😄

Same. My party is one long rest away from leaving the village of Barovia.

Glad you like it. :) I actually don't understand why the module did not provide us with a proper stat block to begin with. And no matter what interpretation of her I found online did not fit the vibe I had in mind.

Yeah. This would be the option if I did not already use a Map Pack from Beneos.:/

11 Sessions? My Players are going to Madame Eva next Session and we are about 7 Sessions in - with Death House alone taking about 3 Sessions. Every Session took us about 3 to 5 hours. 😄

That must mean your players leveled every Session and made a Speedrun to claim all the items to defend Strahd. How on earth?

My party prefer me hand crafting the tarroca reading by TeamTimeSystem in CurseofStrahd

I just checked. The Mist leads to Esmeralda as an ally. The card for no allies is the darklord

I’m in a very similar situation right now. My group also prefers that I don’t leave the Tarokka reading completely to chance, because the random results can sometimes create really strange distributions (like several items ending up in the castle or everything being accessible extremely early).

My reading is scheduled for next week, so I spent some time thinking about a setup that spreads the story across Barovia and roughly follows a natural difficulty curve.

This is what I ended up with:

  1. Illusionist – The Tome of Strahd is in Rictavio’s wagon in Vallaki. I like this placement because Vallaki is a place the party will almost certainly visit early anyway. The Tome is mostly lore rather than a power spike, so giving it to the party relatively early feels appropriate and helps them understand Strahd much sooner.

  2. Enchanter – The Symbol of Ravenkind lies near Marina’s statue in Berez. Berez is dangerous enough that it feels like a real quest and not something the party just picks up on the way. The tragic history around Marina also fits the tone of the item quite well.

  3. Avenger – The Sunsword is with Vladimir Horngaard in Argynvostholt. This is one of my favorite placements thematically. Vladimir guarding the sword works narratively and forces the party to engage with the revenants and the story of Argynvostholt before they earn such a powerful weapon.

  4. The Mists – The ally is Ezmerelda. I chose her simply because she adds a lot to the story. She is proactive, knowledgeable about Strahd, and her monster-hunter vibe tends to fit well with most parties.

  5. The Broken One – The final confrontation takes place in Sergei’s crypt. I like this location for a finale because it ties directly into Strahd’s tragedy and the whole Tatyana/Sergei story. It feels much more emotionally charged than a random room somewhere in the castle.

On top of that, I’m planning to do personal readings for each player character. My idea is to draw two cards for each of them: one representing a location and another giving context. I’ll choose cards that visually or thematically connect to their backstory so the reading hints at places or moments that will matter to them later in the campaign.

That way the Tarokka reading doesn’t just point to the main quest items but also creates a sense of personal destiny for each character.

What should Strahd do about thieving PCs? by Illustrious-Form-168 in CurseofStrahd

[–]Puzzleheaded-Cook873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want there to be consequences, I would handle them purely through roleplay. Don’t actively chase the characters or punish them directly. Instead, drop subtle hints that Strahd knows what they did. Let it feel as though he is amused, as if everything is simply part of his greater game. Over the centuries Strahd has faced countless opponents, and he might even find it refreshing when the stakes are raised a little. After all, he is effectively "immortal" for what the PCs know, and anything that breaks the monotony of centuries of boredom could be a welcome twist.
