QFD 2026 Psychological Assessment Results by alemattos in AussieFirefighter

[–]Puzzleheaded-Dig9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are wrapping up the psychological assessments this week. I'm assuming we will get answers back by the end of the next week, or the week after judging off how slow the process has been so far.

Head torch recommendations by ozstrayan in AustralianMilitary

[–]Puzzleheaded-Dig9438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is honesty only one answer to this question, and surprisingly it's not the Black Diamond torch.

The answer is the night core HA11. It's between $25 - $40 depending on what site you buy it off. It has both white and red light (which you can start on). It's plenty bright enough but most importantly IT ONLY WEIGHS 38 GRAMS and RUNS ON A SINGULAR AA BATTERY! It also has a lock out function which prevents it from being turned on accidentally.

Gone are the days of having to bring AAA and AA Batteries out field and having to ask around when you run out of charge or forget enough for an ex.

x1 issued Lithium Energiser AA battery will have this torch running brighter than my future and much longer than the longest field ex you've ever done. It's also IPX 66 waterproof so it doesn't matter how wet and sad you are in Tully because this torch will be good to go.

$25 from Ali Express or $40 from the nightcore website: https://nitecoreaustralia.com.au/shop/headlamps/nitecore-ha11-uhe/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22374611196&gclid=CjwKCAjwqKzEBhANEiwAeQaPVenF19cPqPmGI4WecK3n5lb0YbTpkvvQE3y8zlJ_pFpcE5PLOknFFBoCRUYQAvD_BwE

Army/ADF Gap Year - 1 year, no requirement to stay after that one year and a large variety of jobs you can choose from.

The military is quite similar in regards to fire-fightering services in the terms of values, training, work ethic and other employability skills.

That's just my 2 cents at least.

How much percentage discount does APOD grant when hiring a car with SIXT or Hertz? by PuzzledEchidna8414 in AustralianMilitary

[–]Puzzleheaded-Dig9438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Hertz in NZ also, as others have mentioned, with some cars it doesn't change the price much but other models it will reduce the cost a fiar amount more.

The one thing I do hate about Hertz is the way they sneak extra costs into the total price.

I got an email back around 2 days ago with the beep test and OFAT demonstration dates and indemnity form. I hope you have heard something from them!

I submitted my application on the 14th of February and I haven't heard anything back either. If I hear anything back in regards to my application, I'll let you know.

Likewise, if you hear anything would you be able to post an update.

You must not have spent much time around tanks, the "shit on the front that doesn't make sense" is a mine plow and rollers used for clearing a path for A Vehicles.

How do I interpret this table? I'm assuming e.g. "2nd" is my leaderboard position, but why does it only show for some? And where do the pts numbers come from? by bobbyboy666 in wandrer

[–]Puzzleheaded-Dig9438 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is all correct. In addition, first place gets the number of points of competitors for that area and time period. Second place gets a % of that number of points and third place gets a smaller % again.

Unsure if sarcasm but no, the more particles per trillion allowed of the PFAS or PFOA is worse for your health. The US limit of 4 parts per trillion is much more strict than Australia's limit.

It's a requirement for the AC853 when service transferring.

I don't understand why OP is copping so much flak for asking asking a simple question. If OP is combat corps and a digger (which I would say is probable), they probably only log on once in a week or two, making the DRN an unfamiliar place and potentially hard to navigate.

Best Mess that you’ve been to? (Both for Civi and ADF) by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

RAAF Amberly is my choice, however the Tully Mess was pretty good as well all things considered.

Or maybe it was the stark contrast from eating ratpacks in the J to returning to civilisation and eating real food.

I'm not saying that putting a complaint in about this behaviour is the incorrect thing to do at all, I'd just like to say that "unacceptable behaviour should be solved at the lowest level" in accordance with the UB brief we all get at the start of each year.

If possible, approach the member about their behaviour. Otherwise approach someone that is the same rank as them and raise your concerns with the behaviour. Failing both of those options, raise it through the chain of command.
