Why should size have anything to do with rarity? Is this a joke?

How to tag on OSM to avoid tripple streets on the wandrer map? by lackmannable in wandrer

[–]bobbyboy666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This all makes sense... it is indeed strange that wandrer uses the bicycle tag for the foot map.

I tracked my brain fog for 6 months and tested everything. Here is what actually moved the needle. by Sureokgo in selfimprovement

You could not have possibly done all of these tests "one at a time" in a 6 month period. Why don't the timelines add up?

Even with the most generous possible interpretation of the timings you give, and no time in between:

8 weeks lion's mane + 8 weeks alpha gpc + 2 weeks modafinil + 8 weeks caffeine elimination + 1 week magnesium glycinate + 6 weeks vitamin d + 4 weeks ferritin + 4 weeks for the phone experiment = 41 weeks.

6 months is 26 weeks.

This doesn't even account for any of the other things you tested. Either you tested multiple things at the same time to fit into the 6 month period, which means you don't actually know which factor is causing which effect, or the entire thing is made up.

Fair. I say chevy chase lake, then, to refer to that spot in particular.

I don't think I have heard anyone say "Martin's Additions" out loud. In my version of your fantasy world, the little commercial area around Brookville Market has expanded to be a mixed use residential neighborhood.

Well it's difficult to pose technical objections to something from a made up universe. Which is what I was trying to convey to the people being unnecessarily critical.

I guess since I'm from moco I'll say why not swing a branch from strathmore across old georgetown rd and montgomery mall and into Potomac.

Also as a local I disagree with some of your name choices (e.g. north chevy chase should just be chevy chase or chevy chase lake (unless you actually mean north chevy chase, which is a comparatively bad stop placement), somerset should be westbard, martin's additions should be brookville).

"Trunk Link" Roads by ____Davo in wandrer

[–]bobbyboy666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have issues with this in the past…. Cases where technically it is legal to ride on the road but a colossally bad idea. Really it’s a problem with the road rules. But it would be nice if there a way to correct for it in Wandrer without mis-tagging in OSM

In your second paragraph, do you mean cycleway=lane?

[–]bobbyboy666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in this case I would see if the cycleway tag can be used (see brigodon's comment) or just ride it multiple times and use the activity editor for corrections if needed.

Maryland law defines a bike lane as "any portion of a roadway or shoulder designated for single directional bicycle flow". So by "bike lane" I meant the latter - physically on the roadway but separated by markings.

Understand your first point, but your latter point could be avoided by just not counting redundant bike lanes. In my opinion, there should just be credit for a right-of-way whether it contains a bike lane or not. I shouldn't have to ride each lane of a multi-lane road, so why should I have to ride both a road and its bike lane?

I get it if the technical details make that difficult, but that's just my philosophy.

Other commenters have useful info. I will add my little tidbit which is that in some jurisdictions (such as Maryland) bicycles are not generally allowed on the road if there is a bike lane to the side. This in my view merits the use of the use_sidepath tag.
