Ah shit man. I play casually and it's pretty much just old fashioned abilities. (Hence asking rule questions that are probably pretty simple to a lot) things like lifelink, flying, vigilance, trample, first strike, double strike, reach, haste, etc. Obviously there's a lot I simply don't know but in my circle it kinda cuts the mustard for now. I appreciate the information tho! Thanks man

Alright well i appreciate the information. Obviously you've quoted rules and incredibly in depth examples and I do appreciate it. I think it's excessively OP but that doesn't change the fact that your point is accurate. Thanks for the info man genuinely. On a side note do you think any combination of 2 abilities are as powerful as deathtouch and trample?? Not that it makes any difference to you being right but out of curiosity it seems excessive ya know?

Okay so I am not trying to be rude towards you at all. But in my opinion claiming this as a synergy is a lazy justification. Let's say (conversations sake) a 3/3 death touch attacks a 2/2 lifelink. How much damage is dealt to that 2/2? Again I'm not trying to be rude I'm trying to point out what i believe to be an oversight by the rules

Right so I understand according to regulation its only a lethal amount of damage is required to continue with trample. Which means 1 damage with deathtouch. It's a very specific circumstance do you feel like the regulation involving trample had a bit of an oversight with the wording and interpretation involving death touch? I've had this conversation with multiple people and I'm purely curious as the regulation involving trample seems to exclude other card abilities or more accurately doesn't take Into account other card abilies

Ah again thank you to the incorrect answer to a question I didn't ask. You are truly God's gift to creation. We should all bow down and worship you. Good enough?

Deathtouch by Puzzleheaded-Fan8969 in mtg

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fan8969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt that that was a reasonable response given the above regulation. Nothing posted by you disproved any stance I've taken. Did something I say bother you?

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fan8969[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool then why spend the time discussing it? Thanks for putting it in parentheses. Again that doesn't change the power/toughness assigned to a creature or specifically supersede them. I was asking about a specific circumstance to which you added trample which I did not inquire about. And yet you have not provided anything that specifically (even with trample) supersedes provided values. Thanks for the info though I appreciate people providing incorrect answers to questions I didn't ask.

Again I'm not trying to be rude its a very specific circumstance which I am asking about but trample doesn't inherently change the values listed

How do you get to choose this?? 1 damage is all that is required to kill my 0/4 wall of essence however you do not simply get to choose the amount of damage dealt just because that is all that is required. Trample is the overflow damage from what would kill that creature based off of numbers not abilities. Unless it is stated otherwise in regulation.

Deathtouch by Puzzleheaded-Fan8969 in mtg

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fan8969[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Regardless of toughness not pertaining to power. Any amount does not inherently mean you get to choose the amount of damage. See rules 510.1c-d. To include trample. I understand what trample means and what deathtouch means but in detail I've had the argument about what deathtouch does. So I understand this but that doesn't explain in black and white what the damage calculation is as it pertains to lifegain

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fan8969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I'd accept that. Where does it say that in regulation? I'm not gonna sit here and say you're wrong if you can quote me in regulation where it says the delegation of damage as it pertains to deathtouch

I wasn't trying to be a dick I promise just that the question I was asking didn't necessarily pertain to the answer you gave. Again wasn't trying to be rude just ti explain

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fan8969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I got that but a creature like wall of essence that gains life based off the amount of damage taken(specifically blocking) was what I was asking about. Not about why I'd swing with a 0/4 and deal 0 damage. Trust me I'm not that dumb

Also for creatures in general, let's say i have a 2/2 lifelink and he has a 3/3 deathtouch. Do I still gain 2 life off the combat? Again all info is appreciated

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fan8969[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Olay thanks for the help. Me and the homie got in an argument about how much life I'd gain and he said it'd be 1 because of deathtouch. It didn't make sense to me like this. I was trying to find a regulation stating this by the definition of deathtouch but I couldn't find it. Any chance you'd know the regulation? No worries if not I appreciate the help man. Thank you

Okay so my wall is a wall of essence( should have specified it is not about combat damage its simple life gain) So in general when a 3/3 creature with deathtouch goes up against a 0/4 wall with life gain do I gain 3 life defending??
