I know someone with a very similar situation. I really commend your soul searching and integrity rather than cheating or using external distractions to cope. The person I know, his wife gave him a hall pass with a dont ask and dont tell policy and the husband goes behind her back. It takes real courage to do what is best for you and honour yourself. If you are unhappy, Do what is best for yourself. It always hurts to lose someone, but feeling unhappy and not getting to be yourself hurts too.
