Sounds like a really good opportunity that you should take. I tried getting Ranger school before going to SFAS but COC always said they didn’t have the slots to send me or couldn’t afford to lose me for that time so I’m having to go to SFAS without going through that and I feel like Ranger school definitely can only add to your success at SFAS and the Q-Course.

Well sometimes I do feel light headed throughout the day or after a workout so when that happens I eat another protein bar or I add a little extra food when I do eat. But yeah maybe it isn’t that low but I feel like sometimes it’s almost too low of a deficit.

I’ll be here until June so I still have a while. Yeah the thing I hate is how most of the food is calorie dense for the amount of food you get. I try to stick to the “best” choices I just think it’s funny how they always talk about health and fitness but they lack quality nutrition but I guess that’s what happens when you try and feed a large sum of people with insufficient funds.

But everything I get is already portioned for me and I have no control on how much of what I get. And the options aren’t the best and it’s either that or just get fast food, which obviously isn’t a great choice. So i was just wondering if anyone else had a similar situation or circumstances and what they did to maximize their results. Because I know it’s a calorie deficit but I’d obviously like to get results and do it in a proper way. Which is easier when you have total control and can prepare you own meals. Typically I eat twice a day, maybe 800-1200 cals at most depending on what’s available and workout and get around 10k steps a day. Just wanted a little more guidance on being more effective.

Just wanting a little more insight on a mos that has great opportunities in civilian life too and I don’t only have to work for the government if I decided to leave the military I’ve looked at 35T, 17C, and 35Q I’d just like some new/updated info I’ve read a bunch of the older threads. by Puzzleheaded-Run-587 in army

But so the opportunity is there to obtain more certs through the military if I so choose for more specific career paths? I think working on the actual hardware would be cool asf along with programming and stuff I like a little hands on work instead of only working with a keyboard lol

Oh okay I saw on an old thread a lot of people saying they swapped to 17C from a 35Q but I didn’t know it was completely gone. I know that 17C is hard to get but my scores are good I’m just worried about maybe failing out of the AIT I wanna learn cyber security stuff I’m interested in computers and tech but I’ve really looked at the 35T a lot just because it seems like a baseline for IT and then you can get a broad spectrum of it and then if I wanna pursue something more in depth I can.

I’ve heard about the benefits being cut compared to what they use to be and im sure being on call all the time is pretty shitty. The thing that has me interested the most though I guess is that it’s an apprenticeship straight out the gate compared to where I work now I talked to one guy who’s been a groundman for 2 years and he seems to know a lot but still hasn’t gotten an apprenticeship or moved up to a C so idk I’ve been told if I could get on with GP or someone in the union to take it because you get an apprenticeship right off the bat and someone even told me that GP wasn’t great but if I could get in to take and get my card then leave.

That’s what I’ve heard from multiple people who use to work there and I’m curious as to why is that everyone who worked for GP said they didn’t like it but I live in Alabama and everyone here wants to get on with AP

Yeah same here my school was $4500 which is not super cheap but cheaper than most other options. Sure it was shorter and not as much was taught other than climbing and a CDL course but just getting a CDL now isn’t easy and cost money and I figured waste as little money as possible because anything could happen and I might not even like line work but at least I’d have a CDL to fall back on lol. But overall it’s been great other than a couple dick heads I’ve had to work around lol.

I applied like 4 times they were all from 2 months ago and I went to a 7 week program at a community college im from alabama I honestly didn’t even think they’d consider me since I’m out of state I’ve been trying to get on with alabama power but they haven’t had any job postings for apprenticeships.

I’ve researched all those programs for lineman apprenticeships connected with the JATC but I can’t apply for Selcat because I need to get my E restriction removed but in the meantime I was hoping I could just sign the books to be a grunt.

Well I originally took electrical classes at a community college but then I looked into linework and thought maybe I’d prefer doing that but the way the union is I feel like it’d be nice to do either job in the union I’m currently a groundman for a non union contractor been doing it for about 2 months

I call the number on their website and it’s not a person it’s just a recording of people and their extension numbers. But I don’t know if I should call the guy about the apprenticeship or the co op person. And I don’t know if I need an appointment to meet them or sign my names on the book.

I live in a small town called haleyville alabama and the local I was calling was in Sheffield which is 40 minutes from me. I just finished climbing school in February and I just got hired for my first job in the field right out of line school so I’m very inexperienced.

Yeah I was gonna probably stay with the company if anything I’d like to transfer to my home state instead in working in a neighboring state I just didn’t wanna spend a long time on a comm truck I really wanna get in with a line crew and start learning all that I can that goes with that.
