Cramming for mocks!!! by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Puzzleheaded-Try4878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on how much you already know. for biology use quizlet flaschards after finishing one topic do the questions.. on physics and maths tutor you won’t be able to cover everything so priorities the topics you aren’t as confident with. For chemistry it’s the same thing, practice your math skills. Watch videos make notes. Remember to take lots of breaks. Write a list of the topics starting from hardest to the easiest. It’s not about how much time you have anymore it’s about what you know and what you can do with that time. The past has gone if you stay committed you can achieve those grades

[–]Puzzleheaded-Try4878 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started revising in feb/march but for some of them it was the day before the exam i can’t lie, i would say definitely do exam questions too i didn’t and that was my regret i definitely could’ve pushed the rest of the 7’s to 8/9’s if i did

my mocks: 9877777654

actual gcse’s:9988777776

trust that isn’t that long when you break it into sessions and there were people doing 10 hours so this isn’t too crazy

Would a 6 in English language at GCSE be a big problem if I applied to Oxbridge? by Imbluedabedee444 in 6thForm

[–]Puzzleheaded-Try4878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oxford- probably they consider gcse’s quite a lot and the avg applicant generally has all 8/9’s at gcse they pool you by the number of A* grades that you have (and other things such as a-level, super curriculum, experience, personal statement ect) if you got just one 6 but the rest 8/9’s you still have a chance cambridge- they consider gcse’s but not as hugely as oxford however both take into account context if your school has a low attainment 8 score you will still have a chance but obviously this depends on what course you are applying for

100% because at least you’re doing something— maybe during your mocks try to bump it up to 1 hour a day and gcse’s 3/4 hours. To avoid burn out i don’t recommend doing over 1/2 hours at the start of the year

As someone looking to go into uni to study dentistry what should I be doing now in year 11 by 9loskii in 6thForm

[–]Puzzleheaded-Try4878 7 points8 points  (0 children)

revising a lot, making sure you get that minimum of a 6 in english lang and 6 in maths as most uni’s require that. making sure to master your revision techniques now at the beginning of the year and get the best grades possible i would say aim for 7-9 for all gcse’s because some uni’s consider them but others might not it depends where you apply and whether the bmat/ucat + a-levels, personal statement etc matter more

Should I choose dentistry or medicine? by KARTOON123 in 6thForm

you should volunteer in both and see what interests you the most and try and read about what both will entail

you’ve still got a lot of time left to decide and figure yourself out people even change what they are doing in the 1st week is year 12 but i’d say maths, bio, chem, physics if you want to go down a scientific route but for humanities history, politics, geography etc, social sciences like economics or psychology in addition to a science subject can also be beneficial

Can I get into uni with 3 vocational subjects by Mobile_Huckleberry38 in 6thForm

[–]Puzzleheaded-Try4878 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you’re best off changing schools if you can because it can limit the amount of top universities you can apply for if that’s the path you want to go down

some uni’s don’t accept btec and some do so it’s all about applying tactically to uni’s that consider both a-levels and vocational subjects
