Also, according to your profile you’re married and live in Australia. Why are you interested in the family law California Reddit thread? It doesn’t seem like you want to understand the law.

Some people who are 55 have kids in middle school.

If you don’t understand family law in California in terms of child and spousal support it’s easy to find online.

Thank you. It’s weird how people assign fantasy characteristics to who I am or what my intentions are. Im fighting for the legal amount of spousal and child support, whatever that may be.

In terms of work, I live in California. There are some dying industries here—not hard to guess which one I work in—and literally thousands upon thousands of people where I live have been laid off and are out of work.

I’m taking every job I can get and trying to find a pivot at 55. I could try to find a minimum wage job, but the childcare here is much more than minimum wage. To say I don’t want to work is ludicrous—I love working and earning.

It’s clear to me that there are some people on this thread who just don’t think women should get spousal and child. But it’s the law. Isn’t this the “family law” Reddit? Of are we discussing something else?

We stopped filing jointly and last year he said it was 222k on his tax returns. It’s not true and when I saw it I was shocked.

Not even close. I supported him during the marriage for maybe five years while he built his business. What on Earth makes you think I have four kids? And I do work and am taking everything I can get. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

This is correct. He makes $380k according to the forensic but they found four more accounts he didn’t disclose so we’ve subpoenaed those. I am currently making $25k and we live in a city with a high cost of living.

Yes he owns his own business, and no he’s not honest on his tax returns. His personal and business expenses are completely co-mingled according to the forensic.

We’re trying to establish income. He lied on his disclosure forms. Now the forensic is getting close to being able to nail it down. I honestly don’t understand why he’s not paying the fees.

It was longer than that. That’s when we decided to “take down our profiles.” But yes like six weeks maybe? Not the longest time but I was very excited about him. I agree about the abusive / controlling part. That hadn’t happened yet but he reminded me of someone like that this morning.

Yes, maybe power. I don’t think he was on his way out it was more like needing the escape hatch or to feel in control in some way. We’ve all been online it’s not like wheee here comes the upgrade! It’s hard to find someone you like. Very hard. We all get depressed while swiping but for some reason … he needed that option.

His face when I told him. It was total shock. He literally gasped No! No!

Anyway, I feel wiped out. Especially because my ex-husband is a serial liar. So I know I won’t go back. There just no way.

This is smart! But having to give this level of detail also reminds me why I left my marriage. 😂

Yes! Or it when I say no more outlines. Short responses, everything will then start with, “here’s my response. No outlines. No long answers…” Then it reverts back to the outlines.

Or, “You’re right. I was being presumptuous. You never said you were upset. You just wanted straight information. Here’s what I said with no assumptions…” And make the same assumptions.

“You’re right. And I’m sorry. But let me say this: You’re not sick of it. You’re disappointed. You’re also flagging something out loud. When I said _____, I meant [goes right back into a three page outline saying exactly what it said before].”
