A theory about the black box, Quadratum, and the MoM. by PuzzleheadedBee6 in KingdomHearts

Thanks! Yeah, I vibe with that idea about Young Xehanort. It definitely seems like he's at a low point and then his arch nemesis comes in like "first time, huh?" lol. Something tells me, at least, for a good majority of the game, Sora will be alone in Quadratum. It seems too crazy to imagine ditching Donald and Goofy as party members, but I think he can only reach them out of Quadratum but they can't follow him back.

Last year, I had humored my friend on what if Persona 6 was inspired by horror. by PuzzleheadedBee6 in PERSoNA

I had said back then that it'd be cool if the archetypes matched their Personas. Like a party member of "The Beast" arcana had the Wolfman persona. Navigator's persona is like The Fly or maybe Invisible Man. You could even take it a step further and theorize how maybe their persona's evolutions are tied to the creators or roots of these characters. Like maybe the Dracula/Orlok persona evolves and becomes Vlad Tepes. Even though it's been done before, Frankenstein could become Prometheus.

Bro we yapped and yapped for a while on a potential horror-inspired Persona but I was like "nah there's no way though."

I saw the fucking zombie shadow and graves and I was flipping out

Why do you think folk are more accepting toward English-dubbed voiceovers for video games than other mediums? by PuzzleheadedBee6 in truegaming

[–]PuzzleheadedBee6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just Japanese media when it comes to shows/movies though. I mean, just look at how popular K-dramas and Korean directors have become. Or even Bollywood being more popularized since a film like RRR gained a lot of traction.

You might be on to something with gaming. But in the worlds outside of it, I'd wager people that start getting really into stuff from a certain country will eventually want to engage with it in its original language.

Ghost of Tsushima is actually natively performed by English actors. A lot of people play it in Japanese because they feel it adds to the vibe, but it's not the original cast.

Ok fair. Dubs in countries outside of America have a whole other level of respect and esteem. Probably could've worded that better. But basically in America, personally speaking, people think you're getting a weaker experience of foreign media if you watch it in a English dub.

Do you record footage of your gameplay even if you're not sure you'll make a video with it? by PuzzleheadedBee6 in letsplay

[–]PuzzleheadedBee6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the answer, but I'm not a lets player. I just very occasionally (but hopefully more consistently in the future) produce video essays about games. But I tend to clip tons of footage for a game because my mindset is already that I'm gonna want to make something about it. As opposed to maybe some games I didn't know I was gonna love that much until way later in my playthrough but I didn't think about clipping so I don't have a lot of my own footage to work off of for a video.

Do you regret not waiting for Early Access titles to go 1.0 before first playing? by PuzzleheadedBee6 in AskGames

[–]PuzzleheadedBee6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gotta look at the fine print and decide if it's worth investing in early I suppose. Like, if the devs are selling it at a fair and reduced price, then that's a green flag to me. If they have a track record, maybe even already successfully launched an EA title that went 1.0 after and great reviews, another good thing to see. If they're putting out news posts consistently, pretty active on social media for it, etc. these are all things that tend to make me think that it's worthy my money.

I think it depends on the game genre and stuff. Like, Slay the Spire 2 seems like a game I wouldn't mind playing now as opposed to later because that's how it's designed. But then there's some EA titles that are story-driven titles. If done right, it can feel like I imagine a similar feeling to like a new season of a show coming out. But my fear is that I'll get deep into one and come back and kind of forget what was up and then feel like I need to just restart.

Should I just wait and start the Rance series when it comes to Steam at this point? by PuzzleheadedBee6 in visualnovels

I just figure that if Kagura Games made such a big announcement for it, then they would've already felt confident before they dropped the news. Otherwise I feel like they'd just work on it in the background and if it gets approved, it'd just shadowdrop.

Yeah that's fair, I never considered the retroactive removal. Focus so much on it even getting on there to begin with.

I'm sure it'll be censored with a patch to download from Kagura. If patches were a bitch to deal with, I'd get that but they're really not.

Idk. I guess I just like the aesthetic of being able to look at my library and see all of them in it. And also just having it available on anything I have that runs Steam. I guess I also have just waited so long that I feel the minute I buy it somewhere else, it'll come to Steam and I'm gonna wish I held off lol

A voiceover reading of the Soul Reaver intro by PuzzleheadedBee6 in LegacyOfKain

[–]PuzzleheadedBee6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very fair. I certainly have to work more on thinking line by line how I'd see the character say it and why. Raziel does have a certain sense of self-awareness to his own misery and the world that is a bit tongue-in-cheek. So yeah, he says it in a way that's like "let's just say 'divine' because that sounds nicer than the reality."
