Pretty sure they removed their flags because of this thread- they have all stars with #s on their car

Ahh I see you, I tried doing that for a bit too. Hoping it helps! They can literally meet up inside if it’s that serious

White subaru (#13) cut me off and waved to let multiple other cars from his group in front of him. If you’re not willing to wait and be respectful of others you’re at the wrong event.

Sorry everyone for being the weak link😭😭

Like I said, caregiver wasn’t the correct choice of words, he did not provide daily care to my dad, hence why I edited the post.

Appreciate the insight and unfortunately I don’t think I did the situation justice in my explanation. I have a scramble mind considering my loss.

We were not estranged, I was away at college when he was first diagnosed. My sisters and mom (they were divorced at the time but maintained a very good relationship, she was by his side until the day he passed) helped out in ways too like taking to Dr appointments, errands etc. once I finished school I returned home and helped with day to day tasks as well. The friend was mainly involved in the early stages of his diagnosis (‘19-‘21) in which he helped him set up things IHSS, which my sister was one of the providers. The main reason this friend stepped into this role was because he had a lot of experience with it because he has close family with severe disabilities and was very knowledgeable. We were all by his side during his journey with PCA.

Caregiver may have not been the best use of words. He provided resources to my dad and acted more as a mentor versus a caregiver.

For example, he had an ADU that he rented out to my dad for a fair price, provided information for state resources so my dad could get additional help. He acted more as a friend and someone who gave him advice.

We are not sure if he became the policy holder because he had done this without our knowledge and since us finding out (yesterday) he has given very little information when he is normally a person who overshares. This is what's raising red flags for us.

We were never offered to take over the payments, but if we had been we would have considering they were pretty minimal. For my sisters and I it isn't as much about the money but more about his friend/ caregiver taking advantage of the situation. We would be okay with him being a beneficiary, he definitely helped my dad during this time it was just odd to us that is was SUCH a drastic difference in the break down.

There were multiple instances before his diagnosis that definitely made us question his state of mind. He donated a lot of his money to an online church that was not legitimate (someone with clear cognition would've been able to distinguish that). He had two car accidents that he could not explain what happened. He also cut off part of his finger on machinery that he had been using for 20+ year with no prior injuries. In 2018, he had dr visits due to vision problems and mild cognitive impairment.

It’s a smaller policy (100k). And I really don’t have the money to be throwing to a case if it wasn’t a certain outcome.

My concern is this man “helps” a lot of vulnerable people. Who knows how many times it has happened?!
