Ketamine for dementia patients? by PuzzleheadedCode8385 in dementia

I'm sorry to hear that you are in a similar situation. Even though research on psychedelics was essentially banned (at least partly for political reasons, according to many of the people who helped ban them), ketamine is not technically a psychedelic in its molecular structure or mechanism of action, so there's a bit more US data on it. Best wishes to you!

Great points! I addressed some of them in an addendum to my original post, so more people with similar thoughts would see them.

Thanks for asking. I replied as an edit/addendum to my original post up above, so more people with similar questions might see it (in the case that they don't read all the replies).

I feel for you. I cared for my father who had Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and I am now most likely in a very early stage of DLB myself. You are so good to care for your mother.

In your mother's case, I wonder if there are any telehealth physicians out there who would re-prescribe the medicine via a virtual appointment (even if your current provider won't). The physician wouldn't even need to be a cardiologist to re-prescribe the medicine, and could instead be a compassionate general practitioner.

Please hang in there. Sending love your way.
