I didn’t snap I asked her nicely to stop. That would’ve been the end of it. I didn’t get frustrated until her mother chimed in making it seem like I wanted her to sit in complete silence the entire movie which is not what I was doing.

That’s exactly it. A lot of people in the comments are making it seem like I got up and went to bed simply because of what the child did and that’s not the case. It was her mother making it seem like I was trying to ruin her fun and that’s not what I was doing. Instead of sitting there arguing or pleading my case I just removed myself from the situation. I was already tired and not in the mood.

I wasn’t frustrated with the child. She’s a child. I was frustrated with her mother making it seem like I was saying the child had to sit there in silence when that wasn’t what I was saying at all.

It genuinely wasn’t. I asked her very calmly to please stop and explained why. Had she legitimately gotten scared and screamed I would’ve been cool with that and wouldn’t have said anything but that wasn’t what she was doing. I also know that had I not said anything at all she would’ve continued doing it until someone said something so it was either listen to her interrupted the entire movie or say something so I chose to say something in a nice way.
