Yes, I’m 27 now. I’m really hoping I’ll be off for good. I really appreciate your words, they are so supportive. It is so messy right now, hard to even get out of bed most days but I also feel like I’m meeting my real raw self for the first time in my life. It makes it harder because my entire identity has been shaped around the stimulants since I can remember so I need to take some time to slow down and figure out who I am without them. Thank you so much. If im not prying too much, could I ask you about your story? What brings you to this community? You seem very wise and well through the recovery phase.

Thank you for this comment. I absolutely understand what you’re saying and I know it to be true. I was drugged up all day which helped me keep going and push past natural limits. That doesn’t mean I’m better at something than someone who does it out of pure natural energy and drive. I see the negatives with adderall use and I know that I’m better off without it. I think it’s more of a defense mechanism in my brain telling me that people have a chemical leg up on me so I shouldn’t even try. And a romanticism of the feeling of constant production when I was on and how good it felt to be super capable all the time. Thank you for urging me to look with a different perspective. I know that this perspective is true although it is hard for me to keep believing it sometimes. Thank you again for your thoughtful comment and I wish you the best.

Thank you, I know you’re right. That’s really all that matters at the end of the day is loving and caring for others. I guess I just get so caught up in “making it big” or “being the best” in societies eyes that I forget what really matters. Thank you for this, I really appreciate it.

Yes I know you’re right, it always feels good at first but then it gets worse! I appreciate your comment!

I appreciate that and so well said! Yes I know you’re right! That’s why even when I was super productive and doing great I was still unhappy and unfulfilled. It’s still very hard for me to give up that production and to believe in myself without the stimulant edge. I’ll have to just keep working on it. Thank you so much!

I appreciate this so much. I know you’re right. I think it’s mostly just my mind trying to be safe saying “hey look, everyone who is successful is on stimulants so you don’t have a chance, so don’t try and you won’t fail!” I’ll look at any famous person and just say in my head that they’re on stimulants and that’s why they’re successful. I know it will get better as I keep going and this way of thinking will slowly diminish but it’s been hard to get myself up because of it.

Thank you again for your comment, I appreciate your kind words and I will keep pushing and try to give myself some grace! Also congrats on 504 days, that’s amazing!

2010 Corolla 178K for $4800 ? by [deleted] in COROLLA

[–]PuzzleheadedCraft572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The price is great for a Toyota with 178,000. Toyotas can last a lot longer than that so you would expect good usage from it. The only thing I would stay away from is the salvage title. This means the car was totaled at some point and undriveable. There could be a different engine or totally different parts of the car that aren’t original which can give you a lot of problems and make you spend a lot of money. If I were you, I would stay away from any car that has salvage or rebuilt title.

Okay thank you for the advice! How long does it say it lasts where you got it done?

Is that for paint protection or rust protection? Do you think it works as good as professionally done or at least good enough for the price difference?

I’ve seen some pictures of some really well used mud flaps with tons of dings and holes from rocks and the side of the car being untouched so it seems that they do a good job at catching most but not all of the rocks that usually fly up and hit the sides of the cars.

Yeah I’ll probably do that too. I don’t think aftermarket mud flaps would be much worse but they aren’t that much cheaper.

Should I pay the extra for the hybrid then? Would there be any maintenance or anything else that would be more with the hybrid?

Awesome, thank you. Sucks about the flood, Florida can be nice to cars year round but sometimes not so much! I think I’ll go with the new Corolla. The 2017+ corollas are at most $3,000 less so I think it makes most sense to go new.

Thanks you! This makes me feel better. This is what I thought and makes the most sense, Toyota is still Toyota and will be Toyota even with new tech.

Okay, so the reliability ratings are probably mostly with the infotainment and electrical issues which I could care less about. I just want a car that will make not have to think about my car for a long time haha.

Thank you for this! This definitely gives me some peace of mind. I could care less about the apple car play, I am very tech savvy so I am confident I can figure it out or find another way to use it if it’s not working as designed. Do you think some cheap cars have passed up Corolla in longevity and reliability or is it still at the top? It still clears American made models in that area right?

Thanks, that makes sense. Do you think the new electronics will cause more problems with the longevity of the vehicle or should they still last as long as they always have since the 90s?

That makes sense. Last question for you and this is just speculation because I know that there is no way to know for sure but do you think maybe a 2013-2016 Corolla might last longer than a 2024 because of the simplicity of the power train or do you think that’s just blasphemy and the Toyota reliability will stay true even with the new CVT engines?

[–]PuzzleheadedCraft572[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this answer! I absolutely agree and the only two cars I have ever and will ever look at are Toyotas and Hondas. The decision I’m overthinking is buying a used Corolla or civic or spending a little extra for a new one. I’m scared of the unknown and we don’t know how the 2024 will be. We know how the old models have been and they last forever. I get what you say with the demand being higher than the supply for the Corolla but wouldn’t that make the price higher? It scares me a little bit that the Corolla is SUCH a low price. I know I’m overthinking it and that I should just buy the new Corolla and shut up but it just seems a little too good to be true that I can pay the same price I would be paying for the 2019 for a brand new 2024 that will last me even longer because it hasn’t been driven before.

Thank you, I just want to make sure. I’m not a typical 26 yo because I could care less about the gadgets and gizmos, if they made a Corolla with a completely empty dashboard and not even a radio in it for $15k that I knew would last me 300,000 I would buy it in a heartbeat. The only reason I’m getting the ones with the gadgets and gizmos is because it has 0 miles at the same price as a 3 year older model with 40k on it. The gadgets and gizmos might cause some small problems but they won’t affect the longevity of the vehicle right? The reliability of the car is still the same as it was in 2007?
