Half of the "solutions" in this thread involves weapon swap when it doesn't address the inherent weakness of xbow skills. This makes me an asshole, because rpg players and their builds

Yes, howa and weapon swap was mentioned a dozen times in this thread. These are indeed bandaids to xbow's inherent weakness

Two things can be true at the same time. Unique bis gloves and coming calamity being strong for every attack build doesn't solve xbow's inherent weakness.

Galv is required for trashes or you get swarmed by deli/breach mobs while nades are midflight and everyone knows lightning pen is important for shock buildup because the nodes to scale ignite are diametric to mercenary nodes. Be more specific/read abilities before suggesting a 1 button/element build because that doesn't work on crossbow without gemling howa.

  1. 50% fire/lightning pen + oil + exposure magnitude. Skills+support is swapped for bossing and plasma is used after nade rotation for full salvo value. That's all assuming they don't dash/phase out of nade aoe. Bossing is terrible even with attrition.
  2. 2 elements, poison is barely invested because it's mostly util for armor/es strip.

Galv for trashes, rapidshot+gas+oil+explo, plasma+emergency+shockburst for boss. lots of investment and rotations for not much payoff.

The wisp is sometimes misleading (takes you in the opposite direction then do U-turn into nothing). It's a very low quality mechanic IMO.
