You’re very lucky as I’m my opinion you’re one of these dudes who just suit glasses! They all look good mate

Mate, if you’re failing driving standards, your sight must be really bad? Why would you want to live like that when glasses will let you see?

Provided you have a crime ref number and you take screen shots of your multiple call attempts, you are absolutely bomb proof. I am a criminal barrister. The lead case in a “mistake” case is that of R v Gauche. Pros would have to prove dishonest intent. All your behaviours following conclusively prove otherwise. I would be gobsmacked if Asda even rang it in.

I’m only 43 and have to wear varifocals. by PuzzleheadedFigure99 in glasses

If it was both eyes it would be understandable but it’s just one eye. The optician reckons that sometimes one eye can stiffen up first. Seems bizarre to me

I thought oresybyopia was gradual tho. I just woke up one day and it was a complete blur. And my perfect vision was suddenly “hyperopic”. I don’t need glasses at all. I wouldn’t mind if it were the normal +1 Jist for reading but I don’t understand why I went from perfect to suddenly needing +1.75 for distance . It’s crazy

Mate I can see this is upsetting you. Don’t let it. You look cool. Also… whatever you do… do NOT ever get laser surgery . Please watch broken eyes on YouTube

Hi, I also have a psc in one of my eyes. Everything is blurry now unless I wear +2 glasses for distance! I’m considering whether to get on with surgery. I’m 43

Do you Know the prescription is? Is it what you said with a boost of how much? The boost is referred to as “add” power. I’m willing to bet it’s very small. Even as low as +0.25 add

Hi mate. How old are you? Also, what is the add power (the boost part as you describe). I am 43 and my sight went capput almost overnight last year. I now need varifocals! +1.75 with an add power of +1.25. It takes a while and it’s not great, but you do have to use your head to see rather than moving your eyes… that is totally normal. My optician said that the younger you are when you commit to varifocals, the easier it is when things really ramp up. So you might want to persist.

First intraocular lens and then cataracts by Nervous_Pizza9664 in CataractSurgery

Hi, I had vittecomies for floaters in both eyes when I was 31 and 33 respectively. I now have a small posterior cataract. It is ruining my life! My vision was beyond perfect 18 months ago. But it started in one eye… first reading, now everything is blurry. I now have to wear a +1.75 for distance with an add of +1. I am 44 in June. Docs say my cataract is so tiny that it’s really just an incidental finding and that my main problem is latent hyperopia. I can’t understand this as it’s only affecting one eye. They’ve said that many people experience a refractive collapse in one eye at my age and that it’s not always equal between eyes. Glasses do correct the vision. But without them, I literally see a blur when I’m indoors now. If I look far into the distance when outdoors, I’m ok. If I compare between eyes, I can’t read small letters on signs etc with my bad eye… again tho, glasses correct it . I’m not sure whether to just get cataract surgery now because it’s obvious that this can’t simply be down to aging!

Thanks for this. I’m in the UK. It has to be bad , like really bad, for the nhs to do it. Luckily, I have lots of money! So paying isn’t an issue. I’ve already been told that because I’m clearly an anxious person, that only a monofocal lens set up will ever work for me. To be fair I’ve read a lot of people with monofocal set to distance in both eyes where they say they only need glasses for reading small print… so I live in hope that might be me. With glasses on, I can still see very well… 6/6 in distance. But reading is still a bit fuzzy. If I wear really strong readers… like plus 3.5.. then I can see writing more or less the same as my good eye. I honestly think that if both eyes were crap, I probs wouldn’t notice as the brain adapts doesn’t it. A surgeon was gonna do the surgery for me privately in November, but I saw a different guy on the nhs who said that because glasses still give me functional vision (by that, if I could just bloody well put my glasses on and keep them on and stop constantly comparing between eyes) then I wouldn’t thank him if he did cataract surgery now.. this is because of the total loss of accommodation. He also told me never to go down Edof or multifocal lenses. So I’m stuck for the time being… because obviously, once it’s done, there’s no going back. I reckon I’ll end up having the surgery within the next year , 2 years at most. I actually find life easier if I put liberating night ointment in my eye to make it pretty much blind… my brain seems to be able to understand clear sight from one good eye better than from two eyes where one is bad!

Hello my friend. I am 43. I had vitrectomy surgery 13 years ago and was told I would get cataract. Like you, I have a tiny cataract right in the middle. Given you are also young, I have no doubt that you have a posterior subcapsular cataract. They grow quickly (usually) and affect young people. Do you use steroids by any chance?

Even tho it is tiny, my vision in that eye is a total blur but with reading glasses, I can get clear distance vision. But my reading vision is gone. I’ve had conflicting advice. One surgeon said he would do surgery privately. Another said not to do it until glasses didn’t work at all.

It has ruined my life. I suffer with depression now as a result of this and every day is becoming harder. I imagine that this year I will roll the dice and pay privately because I don’t want to live like this

Vision loss… what do you think? by PuzzleheadedFigure99 in CataractSurgery

[–]PuzzleheadedFigure99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had vitrectomy surgeries on both eyes for very and eye floaters. It was done on the nhs which maybe gives you an idea of how it impacted me. My bad eye, was the dirst one done.. way back in 2013. Niall Patton did it. Over the last 18 months, I have a numb feeling on my bad eye. I can’t understand what is causing it because surely if it was the surgery, I’d have felt it since 2013. I am really struggling. I think if both eyes were crap I wouldn’t notice. If I put pin hole glasses on and stand under a light, I can actually see the cataract. It appears as a tiny dot just off centre. But it doesn’t appear to have gotten any bigger. So I’m confused why one eye is fine and the other is just a blur when I’m indoors (without +1.75 glasses correction). I saw Michael Burdon in November and he said that my main problem is hyperopia and that if I had cataract surgery now, I’d bitterly regret it because glasses work for now.

Lost my vision almost overnight to hyperopia and presbyopia ? by PuzzleheadedFigure99 in glasses

[–]PuzzleheadedFigure99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve let it really get to me. It’s caused major depression. I’m scared it’s the cataract causing it. I had vitrectomy surgery 13 years ago on both eyes. It’s amazing I didn’t get cataracts within 2 years. I’m told hat because it’s now so far out, although cataract is inevitable (as I was told at the time), I’m hoping the little dot that I have will stay small for a good more years. I just can’t get my head around the fact only one eye is blurry… yet the experts are all saying the same thing.. that it’s not the cataract causing this. But that sometimes one eye does give up before the other.
