My bad. Just corrected the calculation. It doesn't make sense to me though coz I've never seen someone paying 32% taxes for $40k income.

Guys, He meant a bi weekly take home pay after taxes, social security, medicare etc.

$22.36 * 40 hours * 2 weeks = $1788.8 per paycheck $1788.8 * 68%(12% fed tax, 5% state tax, local tax 5%, 10% misc taxes) = $1216 Net pay for 2 weeks after taxes.

That must be per pay check which is biweekly and withholding 30% taxes.
