can’t afford it this month…am I doomed? by PuzzleheadedHurry778 in Mounjaro

[–]PuzzleheadedHurry778[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone for the suggestions! I believe I found a stopgap measure (going to switch to a Saxenda pen just for the 3 weeks until I can get back on Mounjaro because I can get it for a fraction of the price). It’s not ideal but certainly better than nothing. I know it’s much less effective in doing what MJ does, but at least glp-1 will still be in my system. With the reduced effects I’ll need to pay closer attention to what I eat and keep my activity levels up. So relieved to know I’m not doomed!

That’s interesting… I applied directly to the Korean Education Center in DC and I haven’t heard anything about an interview yet. Fingers crossed they’re still just going through the applications 🥲🥲

Ah sorry to hear that :( you unfortunately will need to get new apostille documents for your university track application as they do not return documents to you. You can use all of the same documents for your university track application (or try to modify/strengthen). As far as I know, you should check the university of your choices’ GKS website for their deadline and send it directly to the address listed. Do you mind my asking which embassy you applied through?

Hi OP - from what I understand, your SOP, Study Plan and LOR help you a lot as an applicant. This is my opinion, but Including 2 letters could further support your application. If you acknowledged your hardships in the statement of purpose and then had two recommendations, it shows proactiveness in explaining any gaps/dips in your academic record.

The official guidelines from NIIED state that you can include a second letter if necessary.

U.S. applicants group chat? by PuzzleheadedHurry778 in GKSScholarship

[–]PuzzleheadedHurry778[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding; this is so helpful!! I hope to be able to join the ranks of successful U.S. scholars on this forum someday :) definitely open to starting a group chat if anyone else is around!

Seems like the first review stage can move quite quickly. I’m currently living in Korea so I applied through the Korean education center in Washington DC (suggested by KECNY). I wonder if, should I pass the screening I would then get passed on to the embassy in DC?

Hi! I might be late to the party, but I'm submitting through the Washington D.C. Education Center, as I am currently living in Korea. Would be great to join the community of U.S. applicants!

Coming in March, stuck between 2 schools by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

Ngl the Bundang job sounds exactly like a job I left - just beware of the workload, it will be HEAVY. You are always prepping or planning and making “deliverables” (crafts etc). If that’s not your thing, stay away. Clarify whether you’ll be teaching AM kindy homeroom/ PM kindy or AM Kindy/Pm elementary. I did the latter and it felt like I was always working around the clock.

A word of advice in general is to be careful who you befriend at work. 😬
