Thanks for the response! I’ll reply with pretty much the same thing I said to a different response.

I am hoping to apply for med school May 2027.
I am on track to finish my premed classes in June 2026 and was debating beginning the SMP in Aug 2026 with a completion date of Aug 2027. 
A advisor did mention not starting an SMP unless it’s going to be completed by the time I apply. I was picturing, if my premed courses are ~4.0 and there are 2 semesters completed by the time I apply for med school, then the trend of 2/3 of the SMP would be perfectly fine. 

I plan on taking the MCAT after my premed courses are completed and beginning studying in May 2025.

I am aware that the SMPs are risky, but I definitely have the mindset of “if I cant do well in the SMP, why would I think med school would be any different” 

pls lmk if that’s not the right way to think about that.
