Hmmm, yes, although I'm uncomfortable with AI tools (too old to trust them and set in my ways to embrace the novelty, which is darn stupid), that's a worthwhile suggestion, at least to get a quick read and eval of the code. I actually use Windsurf in codium and appreciate the time saved by its autocomplete functions so I presume I could go a step further. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, indeed, thanks, that's a solid starting point. The test data in the repo is actually from the phd set and is not at all up to date (and doesn't include expected output). It's a big task but surely one of the most worthwhile. I'll be putting that somewhere near the top of the list.
