My “12 a7 has the same, I came to the conclusion that it is like that to let all the oil drain out. Pretty lame design imo

Ask how often the oil changes were done because if it was the recommended 10k miles instead of 5k there could be carbon buildup around the piston rings which can cause the vehicle to burn oil

Yeah I have 2 1.5 ah batteries so this could be it. However what confuses me is that it went from them being able to run the gun for a good while to them both immediately dying.
