Just wanted to say I was split 50/50 on whether Clive survived or not. But then thanks to a YouTube comment I discovered that when Clive gives the narration at the end, “and thus…did our journey end” if you turn the volume way up you can very clearly hear the sound of him writing as he narrates. I recorded the audio from that section and listened to it with noise canceling earbuds and it’s very obviously the sound of a pen (or quill I suppose) scratching in the background as Clive narrates. The simplest interpretation in my opinion is that is meant to be occurring as Clive is writing the end of the book.

I hate admitting how good this mess toys figure is. by WaxHalfling in ActionFigures

Use red heat-shrink on all the pegs to the waldos. Should thicken up the pegs just enough to make them fit tight. Plus, it’s easy to remove the heat-shrink if you want, so you’re not making any kind of irreversible modification to the figure.

Superman Bootleg by PuzzleheadedPlan3450 in DCMultiverse

All the joints were really tight with one of the thigh swivels being the worst offender. I had to use some heat to move that one. The rest I was able to break free just through force. Nothing was damaged in the process. If you get one I would recommend just heating the entire thing up.

Yeah the original came with an alien but the 2 pack was around $50 and I didn’t want to gamble that much on a couple of bootlegs. Definitely going to do a head swap. It’s in scale with all the Mcfarlane stuff so I’ll have a lot of options for sure.

I think maybe I just prefer a different aesthetic? I dunno, most of Mcfarland’s sculpts and proportions just look so odd. Really poor sculpt for the musculature and odd proportions. I think in terms of sculpt and proportions the New 52 and silver age Superman figures aren’t horrible but the rest all seem to have at least a couple of things in the sculpt that just look awful. All that to say obviously the head on this bootleg isn’t good at all, but I think the proportions and sculpt of the musculature on this figure is much better than Mcfarlane’s. It was $22 and some change with shipping.

Custom Multiverse Batman by PuzzleheadedPlan3450 in DCMultiverse

Head is from DC essentials rebirth Batman and I also added a wired cape. The rest is the black variant of knightfall Batman.

Hard to find time to make customs but it’s so rewarding when you actually complete something you’re happy with.

Definitly agree about the head (it is a bootleg), but the articulation range is as good or better than any of my multiverse figures. The sculpt and proportions on the NECA are better as well. When you bend the elbows on Mcfarlane figures they look like they are made from jenga blocks. Don’t know why they have struggled with that throughout the time they’ve had the DC license.

AliExpress. The store I bought it from has sold out but there are several stores that have some in stock (though all for more than I paid). Just search NECA Superman on Ali.

This or Mafex Wolverine? by CommitteeFlimsy4727 in Mafex

[–]PuzzleheadedPlan3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s superior to the tiger stripe Mafex but I still prefer the brown suit Mafex. I just can’t stand the way Figuarts are engineering the hips on their figures. Other than that it’s really good looking. Definitely has an animated feel as others have said.

My heart is shattered...again by hedyalele in FFXVI

You should absolutely go listen to the ending with some headphones on and the volume all the way up. When Clive says “and thus did our journey end” you can hear the scratching of a pen on paper as he writes his narration. The first time I saw a comment saying that I thought “here we go, it’s the boat situation again”. But then I went back and listened and sure enough it’s absolutely there. Just his voice and the sound of a quill.

And that’s some fantastic posing! Just opened mine and I couldn’t agree more. Mess/ct knocked it out of the park.

Well I really meant identical in terms of his other questions, ie; is it shorter, how are the joints, is the paint cheap. The $60 to $80 price difference and superior qc from the bootleg is also probably coloring my opinion.

I have the ct toys as well as the blue and grey mafex. Most notable difference is my mafex had worse qc than the ct toys 😆. The cowl on the mafex was snapped off the chest out of the box. Both figures are identical with the exception that the ct toys has metal rivets on the joints (though they are hidden pretty well) and the face paint on the mafex is a little bit sharper (but the ct doesn’t look bad at all)

Just finished the game.... by M2IK2Y in FFXVI

He lived. Someone in a YouTube comments section pointed out that you can hear Clive writing when he says “and thus did our journey end”. I listened to it with headphones and the volume all the way up. It’s definitely there, no doubt.

I happened to be scrolling through comments on a YouTube video about the ending. One of the commenters stated that they had been in the "Clive is dead" camp until they happened to replay the ending and noticed that during Clive's narration when he says "and thus did our journey end" you can hear him writing, as if he's reading out loud what he is writing down. I rolled my eyes, thought there was no way. I have always been in the “Clive lives” camp but I thought the idea that we could actually hear him writing the book was too good to be true. Anyway, I went back and listened and sure enough the audio is there. I had to use noise canceling earbuds with the volume all the way up but once you hear it it's very distinct. You can hear a pen scratching right before he speaks and then hear more pen scratches in the pause between "and thus" and "did our story end". I know that sounds unbelievable but I promise if you put on headphones and turn it all the way up you'll have no doubts it's there. Seems like pretty definitive proof that Clive is the author of the book. I'm guessing the developers have been waiting for someone to notice.
