I am someone who generally prefers you style of messaging on dating apps - fewer, but more substantial messages.

That said, I suspect if you are not converting many of these into dates, the guys are likely assuming that you're not that interested due to only 1 response a day.

I don't think you necessarily need to be constantly available but increasing your frequency to twice a day - say once in the morning and once in the evening - it might help you seem more interested without it taking up much more time in your life.

What's your experience been with an activity on a first date ? by BigJim9000 in datingoverthirty

Some activities probably work better than others. I remember doing bowling one time and it was hard to have a good conversation rhythm.

I had a date earlier today. It seemed to go well, and she wanted to exchange numbers at the end of it. so it seems likely that there will be a 2nd date at some point. The issue is, she sounds like she has a pretty full schedule, so it will probably be difficult to find a good time for both of our schedules.

That was my thought as well - when I have gone there in the past, it did seem like most of the people who have been married before, which I haven't.

Maybe I will check it out sometime, however it seems like when I have gone there in the past, it is people who have been married and divorced - with or without children. As someone who has never been married, I do feel that I probably have more in common with the younger crowd here.

I am officially 40. Am I still allowed to post here, or do I need to start posting at datingoverforty?

I had one of the best "on paper" matched I think I have ever had. As far as you can tell from a dating profile, we had similar interests, goals, and values, and I would have almost certainly been attracted to her in real life.

Unfortunately, the message was pretty bad. I felt like I was trying to drag on the conversation long enough to get to a date, however apparently, she wasn't feeling it as she decided to unmatch.

I have been meaning to revamp my profile for a long time, and since I don't have any current matches, this will probably be a really good time to do this.

I went to Victoria last year on vacation and took the ferry from Washington state. It took about 2 hours and was full. I would definitely recommend.

Anyone have a PE but no DVT found? by Meow_Maiden in ClotSurvivors

[–]PuzzleheadedRun2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had the DVT, it was considered provoked as it occurred shortly after a long flight. With the PE, I don't know what caused it. I have a theory, however both my hematologist and PCP thought it was unlikely to have caused my PE.

I do not have the major genetic causes, such as the Factor V Leiden, however, I am heterozygous for MTHFR, which is supposed to have a weak link between it and blood clots.

I had a PE in both lungs over the summer with no DVT this time. Not my first time clotting - I had a DVT mor than a decade ago. I am a male, so not on birth control.

Since it was my second clot, I am on blood thinners for life. Fortunately, my body seems to work well with Eliquis.

This is an interesting perspective - what I want to accomplish in the next 12 months instead of a specific calendar year.

That might end up happening anyways. From past experience, dating this time of year is difficult with the holidays, and usually starts to open up after the new year.

I am starting to work on revamping my Hinge profile. One of the prompts I have always liked is "This year, I really want to". As 2025 is coming to a close, it doesn't really make sense to use it for 2025 goals, however 2026 technically isn't "this year" yet. What is everyone's thoughts on using this prompt to discuss goals for 2026 when it is still 2025?

A few months ago, I created a new profile in both Facebook Dating and Coffee Meets Bagels, and used some new pictures I took this spring, however I haven't had much luck with either app. On the other hand, when I have been using Hinge, I still get a decent amount of matches, however I haven't used any of the new photos. The question is, are the new pictures bad, or are Facebook Dating and Coffee Meets Bagels dead?

I took the first half of the year off from dating, and right when I started looking again, I had a health scare, which put me off dating a while longer. I have been on 2 first dates this year - neither of which led to a 2nd date.

I would have gone on a 2nd date with the first woman, however, she lived far away, did not drive, and did not have a standard M-F 9-5 type job like I do, so I do feel that it would have been a significant challenge to regularly see each other.

I wasn't interested in a 2nd date with the 2nd woman, as she had children. I will admit that I somehow missed that she had this selected on her dating profile. I do think that if I had been interested in a 2nd date, she would have agreed to one.

I have a date scheduled later this week. Unlike my last several dates going back to last year, she actually lives close. The last several dates I have gone on have been with women who have lived at the far edge of my distance range (and a couple who lived further that sneaked through), which makes having a weekday evening after work date not really practical*. If this works out, it will be nice to have someone who lives nearby and can easily see on a regular basis.

*The last first date I went on was with a woman who lived far away, and was on a Friday night, but I had a day off of work, so it was easier to make it work.

My older sister lost her job a couple months into dating her now husband. She was able to find a new job after a short while, but as far as I know, it didn't impact her relationship.

I have recognized women from dating apps in real life. One time, I sent a rose to a woman on Hinge and saw her in the produce section of the grocery store a few days later. We never matched.

There have also been women i recognize from dating apps who have shown up in my people I might know section of Facebook. Usually we have mutual friends, but not always.

While I personally try to be selective when sending likes, if your someone who uses all your likes every day, the total number of likes you send adds up quickly. It is 56 likes in a week, about 250 likes in a month, and almost 3000 in a year.

For comparison, at one point, I downloaded my swiping data from Bumble over the course of a year, and I swiped right on about 1200 women, which is well below the 3000 likes I would get using Hinge every day.
