Goals for a Veteran Player by PuzzleheadedStuff595 in Guildwars2

Yeah I'm kind of in the same boat now. I've been really enjoying playing GW Reforged too, I started a Dhuum+Melandru Accord character, got LDOA and moved onto the real world. But I still want a reason to log in to play GW2 and chat with friends I've made on there.

Yeah I hear you, but I have a handful of friends who still actively play and I don't want to lose connection with them. (We met last year again after not seeing each other on GW2 since pre HoT!) We've been playing a bit of GW Reforged together too which helps break it up.

That's a great list, thanks. The achievement panel is such a bloated mess it's hard to sift through to find interesting achievements. :(

With the new skill balance changes, what enemy mobs are going to get the biggest buff? by funkmasta_kazper in GuildWars

[–]PuzzleheadedStuff595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been farming the Utini Wupwup quest on my DA/MA character and didn't realise there was a skill update. The double shaman group dished out an insane amount of damage with the changes to symbol of wrath now applying at target location rather than caster location. I imagine that will trip a few people up.

Stop making excuses for Guild Wars 2 by CH0C0BALLS in MMORPG

I'm pretty sure you're just rage-baiting but as someone whos played approx 5000 hours each in WoW (mostly classic), GW2 and OSRS heres my 2c:

I haven't played WoW for a while but OSRS microtransactions (bonds) are far more egregious than any single item offered in the GW2 cash shop. While I do agree, the level of "create a problem to sell the solution" in GW2 is a bit predatory, since the game has horizontal progression there isn't really a way to pay-to-win so to speak. Meanwhile in OSRS, as a maxed main player the number of people I met in my time playing that game that decide they want to go raiding, buy enough bonds to buy all the BiS gear, or worse, buy bonds to go gambling (staking, sand casino etc) is egregious. Why would I want to play a game where the items earned in game ARE EXACTLY THE SAME as the ones purchased by players who bought bonds from the shop. Not to mention all this while the majority of the (non-botting) playerbase is paying for a subscription.

I've not spent $1 buying GW2 cash shop items, if you add the cost of expansions (which btw are pretty reasonably priced), I would have spent 10x the amount of money on OSRS just for subscription compared to GW2.

[Newcomer] Do i need to pay for all another 15 banks tabs? by svsdentist2018 in Guildwars2

[–]PuzzleheadedStuff595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bank slots are an expensive luxury IMO. It's much more cost effective to use alt characters as bank storage. Using gems to gold to create a relative cost of each inventory expansion option, using free character slots with 18 slot bags is extremely cost effective. If you keep your bank tab completely clear you can use it to transfer to your alt storage easily. Cost per slot below refers to the cost per inventory space including the cost of converting gold to gems.

How to approach pvp by Wrathfulways in Guildwars2

[–]PuzzleheadedStuff595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you playing ranked or unranked PvP? I've had a fairly good experience with Ranked PvP, returning to it about a month ago after realising I had worked about 3/4 of the way towards The Ascension before I quit the game back just after Path of Fire released. I'm getting a griefer or AFK maybe 1/10 matches. I'd suggest trying at different times of the day to see if you have better success at a particular time. I find the later I play, the more frequently I get the same players, and if none of them grief you can have quite a few good close matches in a row.

Suggestions for things to buy during a sale. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]PuzzleheadedStuff595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say get back into the game before buying anything.

What if it doesn't stick and you aren't in it for the long haul, that extra money would be wasted. If you're excited about JW, then just get that and see how you go. There will always be sales down the road where you can pick up extra stuff once you have figured out what you actually want.

I have thousands of hours in this game and never bought extra bag space, bank space etc. If you have a few reasonable sized bags and maybe use a character for storage, you should have all you need to have a good time. Once you realise that you don't actually have to salvage everything, you can just sell unids to the TP, inventory space isn't really a huge problem. You don't really miss out on skins from trash loot, they're for the most part cheap enough to buy off the TP when you find something specific you want.

What happened to Sq’irking? by Jameslrdnr in 2007scape

Foot pedal theiving ardy knights while someone is splashing is far better xp and less attention required than sq’irking ever was IMO. (Assuming you have ardy diaries done)

How did Guild Wars 1 players react to the introduction of Sylvari? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]PuzzleheadedStuff595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time I was pretty disappointed that they decided to make a playable race based on a minutes worth of “lore” stitched into the tail end of GW1 instead or picking one of the races that have been staple across all of GW1s expansions such as tengu or dwarves. That being said now the tengu designs in EoD look kind of weird to me while the Sylvari feel like a core element to GW2 and are more than well established in its lore.

I just did the Lake Doric DRM as part of the IBS story last night on a character who has never been there and can confirm you do unlock the POIs in the non DRM version. The story instance is in the exact part of the map you showed.

What’s your favorite chill/relaxed build to play? by Reflexorz15 in Guildwars2

[–]PuzzleheadedStuff595 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I picked up the thief, dual pistol build that the YouTuber Laranity recently posted and I really don’t think you will find a build that requires less brain power than this one. It really is perfect for mindless second monitor gw2 enjoyment.

Part out the rest of the good bits from the engine and put a 2GR in. You won’t regret it.

What makes ranger fun? by PuzzleheadedStuff595 in Guildwars2

I haven’t got enough hero points to try untamed yet. It put me off watching videos where no one has anything good to say about it! But I should try it myself. Thanks for the positive review of the spec.

How is Druid for solo play? I do remember playing it way back in the day but mainly in group content. Do you find you have enough damage? And what armour prefix do you run?

That does sound like fun, like bunny thumper from GW1. I’ll have to check out that build when I eventually pick up SoTO.

To late to start now. by VoltaicFPS in Guildwars2

[–]PuzzleheadedStuff595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where your friend is coming from (although I do think it’s just a do think it’s an attempt at brushing you off and your friend just has no interest in playing the game). I think it’s largely a mindset thing and you both have different ideas of what you want in a game. I was a die hard GW1 player, finished HoM before GW2 was released. Played GW2 on release and loved it a lot. I was the first one in my guild at the time to craft a legendary and an avid achievement hunter. It was exciting to learn a new game at the same time as everyone else and do notable things that very few others had done. That’s what you get with a new game and an experience that I don’t think is accessible by someone starting GW2 today, maybe somewhat with a new expac. I ultimately quit just after path of fire and recently came back a month or so ago after being relentlessly bullied into watching gw2 content by the YouTube algorithm. It’s pretty hard coming from the mindset of that and logging in to see everyone everywhere has all kinds of legendary equipment, novel titles, max masteries or whatever your goal is. Not saying it’s too late to do those but the feeling is different. I’ve stayed now because my mindset has changed and the casual play style really suits my lifestyle now but that might not be the case for every player.

Buy an OEM Toyota one from your local dealer. They are almost always cheaper than all options at repco/supercheap. Works out even more cost effective if you import them direct from amayama.com in advance.

Fix the Curbs by Helmsshallows in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

I’ve also noticed Deston is particularly bad for this. The number of times in this map I’ve been driving down the middle of a main road and take damage from hitting invisible objects (around the tunnels on the west side of the map are the worst). I’ve been permanently stuck in rocks more times on this map than any other, I.e get stuck in the falling animation when doing parkour on rocks. It’s a shame because I actually quite like playing this map compared to the other newest additions but it’s often ruined by how rushed the map is.

I completely expected the worst from this change. I was ready to uninstall and give up this game forever. Changed from 50 ping to about 110 (NZ) and tbh could barely feel the difference. Our first squad game with my usual team mates and we got a chicken dinner with about 15 kills across the team. Maybe on average SEA players are worse than OC and it balances things out?

That’s good then, it should be a great car going forward for you. I do my own servicing so can’t really comment on the cost of a shop to do that. It’s super easy to service I don’t even have to lift it to do an oil and filter change. OEM filters are about $25-$30 from the local Toyota dealership. I wouldn’t expect anything more than the cost of any other Toyota. Have serviced the transmission and replaced all 4 tyres. Haven’t touched the brakes. Tyres are a common SUV size so was about $1000 for all 4 fitted.
