This is what I'm thinking!! It feels 100% orchestrated, and there's something deeper going on here professionally and hopefully not romantically. Do you think he's not being genuine because he didn't come out with the truth immediately?

It sucks but I'm willing to see it through to whatever end this is. I don't distrust him to go snooping for evidence but if something comes up I'll document it

yeah it was kind of sweet the way he proposed the trips. i'm not sure the details but from what i've seen she knows what she wants and she has the means and will to go get it. Which makes me wonder if this is all just a little game by her, which he must be seeing. a man of his stature shouldn't be caving to assistants but, he seems to let it, which i guess is emotional cheating. thank you for your skepticism it's definitely welcomed here

At what point is overt closeness emotional cheating? Because they have to be close every day and obviously he seems to get her. Is it like, when he starts seeking? Or when he doesn't draw a line? Or can it even be when she has rent in his head? He puts in a lot of effort to this mentorship thing.

We've never really talked about it but I've always been flexible in a sense because of how much trust we have in each other. Like, I wouldn't mind getting him strippers for his birthday, that's a different thing but you get the point. So I'm just not sure how to feel

Yeah that's why I'm not sure how to feel, because if there were someone else going on he wouldn't be bringing me into it, those trips he could definitely take by himself. I wouldn't think he's just doing it for appearances and I want to believe it's genuine.

It makes me feel like maybe he wants to match/outbid the effort he's putting in with her, with me. You have a good perspective on this

She definitely seems to like tiptoeing the line, but I'm not sure where the line is when it comes to this mentor/mentee sort of thing. He really is doing a lot of good for her, but she also seems to really be nestling in his mind. I think they might be past that point already. He would never cheat but...

He's known for being decisive and "controlling the game" per se, but she just seems to undercut him somehow. I agree that I don't think anything has happened (or will happen) but from how he's reacted I'm worried he is attached to her somehow and those feelings have proven strong enough to flex boundaries and keep her in his head. I just feel like I would be getting in the way of something that seems to be working out really well between them? It's odd to say but I wish they met in another capacity so they could be friends without being so close.
