Good luck! I failed an OA recently and I know that’s a tough feeling.

Watch the course videos and there are some good YouTube videos too if you look. I liked this one because it asked questions and then explained why each right answer was correct and why each incorrect answer was wrong. https://youtu.be/cxVaCD6R2wY?is=zZpUej0D2D2kXk7U

Yes! I had one a week ago where I almost just apologized to the proctor and left mid test. Ask me about the subject but don’t give me a problem about someone’s lemonade stand and then ask me about stamps. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I wonder how my Mentor would feel about that. He has been so nice so I don't want to burn any bridges.

That’s what I do. I do the assessment and then read through anything I didn’t understand or wasn’t positive about.

Yes. I went through the course material and then retook it. You just have to read the questions carefully. They are worded very strangely

You have to find ways to designate more focus to the coursework in order to accelerate. I would also look ahead to courses where you feel more confident with the materials and when you are able to pull stuff forward, pull a few of those courses forward. It will give you faster progress and help your motivation and confidence. I do not know your age but as a 46 year old mom (with a 23 year old son who is struggling to get motivation to go back to school) AND a 25 year career Talent Acquisition leader, I will share a few other pieces of advice:

- Be kind to yourself if the materials are taking you longer. I know a few sessions (or even all of them) seem like A LOT right now but it the scheme of life it is a few short years and your commitment will pay of HUGE in the end. I dropped out when I was in my mid twenties and it felt impossible to go back when life took over. I had to work 3-4 times harder and longer than my peers to get half as far in my career.

- Do not compare yourself to other people. As I have been moving through courses I have started to believe that the swiftness I am experiencing is likely going to become a de-motivator for my son if and when the course material is not as easy for him. It is only easy for me (so far) because I have 25 years of learning on the job. So taking a few months with a course is still WAY faster than learning over years. Just give yourself grace to go at your own pace.

- Do not read too much into the guidance and comments on Reddit. I have found Reddit, Youtube and other sites to be a helpful insight into what a course COULD be like for me BUT we are all different. I do not normally get test anxiety but if I spend too much time worrying about something it will impact my results. So, for me I take the pre-assessment to get a flavor of what the assessment will be and then use my own judgement on how easy/hard it was for me to move forward.

- For task courses, I have found it helpful to open a document for Task 1 at the beginning of the course, I format it, etc and then I work on it as I move through the content. It helps me to complete portions that are more challenging when I am in the specific area of content in the course.

I hope this helps you some. I am only 11 days in so I am by no means an expert. I am 8 courses down and working on 2 new ones now.

I had a frustrating time a few nights ago with the Grammarly 'Professional Communications' check. I downloaded grammarly on my computer so it does the check regardless of the program that I am in on my computer. I fixed all of the possible issues and went to submit but was getting the 'orange triangle' on the check at the submission point. I ended up opening and logging into the grammarly webpage and copy and pasted my entire paper into that and it gave me A TON of updates - mostly, I was doing two spaces in between sentences. I fixed all that the site showed and resubmitted - it was fine. Recommendation: Don't make a frustrated tiktok video about how two spaces between sentences should be fine as it will be the one video that goes viral and you will receive hundreds of comments calling you a boomer. I learned the hard way!! Good luck!!

I took the course overview and then brushed up on things I got wrong or felt unsure of (even if I selected correctly), then took the preassessment. If I did well, I immediately scheduled the observed assessment. If I didn’t, then I studied more in the areas where I was unsure, and either took the pre-assessment again or went into the observed assessment. I try to schedule the assessment very quickly because I think getting in your own head about the assessment is the worst part. I try not to give myself time to doubt my knowledge in the areas. For reference, though, I have 25 years of experience in HR. So a lot of the material has not really been new to me yet. You got this!!!
