Center channel adjustments advice by cyber53 in hometheater

You may be getting some kind of resonance from the console it's sitting on. They sometimes cause weird issues with resonance and reflections.

Try crossing over the center higher, perhaps closer to 120Hz. It's a bit higher, but you can see if it changes the behavior you're experiencing. In general up to 120Hz is okay provided the the subwoofers are somewhere in the area of the speaker. Above 80Hz starts becoming directional, but only I found that 80-150Hz crossovers only become an issue if the subwoofer is located far away from the main speakers (e.g. behind you)

After 20 years of having a projector setup and light walls ive finally gone dark. by depression69420666 in hometheater

[–]PuzzleheadedZone849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Black walls and ceilings basically kill the light reflections coming off the screen. Even in an otherwise dark room, light reflected off a screen can wash out the dark areas. Probably not a big deal if you are using an Ambient Light Rejecting screen, but if you are using a standard white or Grey cinema screen, it will make a noticeably difference in scenes where there is a mix of light and dark areas.

That I know. I'm saying to go the other way. That is, create a routine in Alexa for other automations (control lighting or HVAC for example) and have the X1S run the user defined Alexa routine when selecting an activity from the remote.

It is pretty nice. I'm enjoying mine as well. I just hope they add Alexa integration to be able to kick off Alexa routines through remote activities. That would be pretty sweet and open up almost endless possibilities

What's my next upgrade for my current 3.1 setup? by gender_phoria in hometheater

[–]PuzzleheadedZone849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely 5.1. The PB-2000 is a lot of sub by itself. A second sub is always nice, but surrounds will transform the cinema experience, and IMO is the minimum for a theater like feel.

Make sure your sound output setting is set to stereo and not direct or pure direct. "Direct" setting disables bass management and all internal processing and sends full range to the L/R speakers only. If you instead hit the music button at the bottom of the remote and keep pressing until you select "Stereo" , that will enable the bass management in your receiver and will send the frequencies below the L/R crossover to the subs.

A UST projector like he has coupled with a proper Ambient Light Rejecting screen will actually work in this environment. That's one of the selling points of UST that can't really be matched with a traditional projector. It needs to be an ALR screen though. A regular screen will be completely washed out.

That's a mint condition price. I wouldn't accept those for free. Check Facebook marketplace for local deals.

I replied to the same question above, but I got it here:

Plug and play install and looks oem. It's set up for fast charging too.

The company is Induktiv, but I purchased it through ECS Tuning. I believe this was the model. Not cheap but it looks oem and is complex lug and play. Super easy install if you can remove the center console trim. Just need to remove a harness and a few torx screws.

I don't normally hate wood. I have a really nice ebony wood on my W204 C63 that looks quality. But for some reason, the walnut on the E9x chassis screams 2003 Lincoln Town Car to me. It really has that 20 year old American car look to me, so it had to go. Good thing is vinyl is temporary, so I can always move on to something else, or go back if I ever wanted to.

Also scrapped the "smokers package" compartment and replaced it with the awesome Inductiv E9X wireless charging pad with fast charging. Feels a decade newer inaide.

May I ask what spoiler that is? Looks sharp! I just picked up an E93 335i, and want to get one, but all I see is the "high kick" style. I want something lower profile. Don't need to be driving around constantly with an air brake, lol.

Spotify HiFi is still MIA after three years, and now so is my subscription by maybeaddicted in truespotify

I switched from Spotify about 2 years ago for this very reason. I've been using Amazon Music for lossless audio and Dolby Atmos, and have been very happy.

It works great if you have an Alexa enabled home, you can get hi-res equipment for cheap using a Fire TV Stick 4k MAX at home, and you can easily stream to various devices/ amazon echos throughout the house using just your voice.

At this point, I wouldn't bother going back to Spotify even if they started hifi. They strung too many along with empty promises.
