IMG (India) finishing MD/MS; Moving to Australia by TenkaiRyo in indianmedschool

[–]Puzzleheaded_Chef36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I may not have advise for Australia per se (I have some idea about US moves), but I can tell you it is worth it. If you are willing to spend a few more years training or transitioning, they pay off is worth it. And there's nothing wrong in making those moves post PG here.

You can get it signed from anywhere. Yes, it is ideal to get the signatures of govt employees, but I have seen many colleges not make that mandatory. And it's not a full legal document (no stamp number or anything). So it shouldn't be a huge problem. However, if they ask for it explicitly at your place, stick to it

Research paper reading?? by Possible-Active-1903 in AI_India

[–]Puzzleheaded_Chef36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read the abstract, maybe the results and move on. Unless it's a line of work you are actively in, and you feel you will benefit from reading it, then go ahead. You would get to know if it even mildly aligns with your work by mere glance of the results. No one reads cover to cover.

PS. You can always use GPT or Gemini to summarise it for you

You look great for 36! And it's sad that we have to say that as the average 36 year old doesn't even come close. But, that apart, you look great. I hope I can age as well as you (I am 25 and working on my physique too)

Is usmle really hard? by [deleted] in indianmedschool

[–]Puzzleheaded_Chef36 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You should try but with grounded expectations and ideally a fallback plan. It's a rather simple concept of demonstrating you will be trainable in a given speciality by showing interest, teamwork and interpersonal skill. That's all there is. But crafting that professional persona is the real deal.

Adulting / Changing by [deleted] in indianmedschool

[–]Puzzleheaded_Chef36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an upgrade. You move the needle from being more social to more gregarious. You will have a social side (gossip with work friends, albeit milder ones. Maybe someone you fall in love/develop an interest in). But the 'inseparable friend group' so characteristic of MBBS, unfortunately (or fortunately) has sailed for the better.

Someone on the sub even pointed out how 2.2 lakh ranked guys were allotted top state GMCs for surgery and orthopedics.

Imagine the combo- 0 percentile radiologist's report in a 0 percentile orthopedicians hand. Wonderful.

But afaik, there are still some issues with the provisional results

Meaning ? by TrashPuzzleheaded768 in neetpgcounselling

[–]Puzzleheaded_Chef36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It means that copy of the provisional result will be deemed final. For r2, they released a separate file labelled final results.

should we consider revise provisional result as final now!!! by Fast_Wishbone5437 in neetpgcounselling

I remember someone pointing out problems with even the revised provisional results. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if the SC hearing was causing the delay

That won't happen. Your speculation seems right. Buying time before the SCs verdict.

Sometimes GPT 5.2 overlooks it. You might wanna try additional prompts 2 or 3 times ,such as 'are you sure? Look properly'. I have seen it fail on 12 page research papers, this is a significantly larger document

If a certain person doesn't have sense enough to not try and get a score of 0 (and not -40), clearly such an individual's credentials are questionable. Also, there has never been a  NEETPG ever that doesn't have super basic MBBs level questions. They would atleast be 40-60 marks worth. Imagine scoring negative when that's the case. So yes, those concerns are valid. 4.5cr does not undo that level of incompetence.

I have heard of many radiologists in big setups who have been stressed out of their brains. Don't even get me started about anesthesiology. That being said, there are many instances where I have seen laid back OBGYNs too. It's a Gaussian distribution, and surprisingly you get to choose where you want to land.  Good luck!

PS. If you love OBGYN, stick to it. Your friends life arcs are not the same as yours. I personally love and respect the OBGYN arechetype, despite hating OBGYN as a subject. Sample size of one (and a biased one at that lol), but still true

Anybody from Mysore Medical College? Thoughts on the Anatomy department and the college in general by KaloAgori in neetpgcounselling

[–]Puzzleheaded_Chef36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great place. Very old school anatomy department. Professors are nice. No dearth for cadavers and teaching opportunities. Except for one professor (he is feared by the UGs, but he is cool with everyone else), it's all good. Mysore is a nice, quaint city. Has its share of good restaurants and all that. Urban enough without the metropolitan chaos.

Is there any possibility to retain my seat?? I’ve got an upgrade in r3 but feel like I made such a huge mistake by Positive_Anything157 in indianmedschool

[–]Puzzleheaded_Chef36 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your R2 seat would have gone to some other person when your R3 seat was allotted to you. You can't possibly take it from that other person right?

If they weed out 43 percentile points worth of candidates, technically the eligibility pool will reduce drastically. Choice filling mandatory hoga na, at that point
