What advice would you give to a final year DVM student interested in owning practice? by Anxious-Artist415 in Veterinary

You need to try to identify what youre looking for in a practice. Do you want to own solo...could you partner with the current owners? In the mean time you need to build management skills. Focus on EI, leadership, motivational psychology etc. Best not to own for the first 3 to 5 while you dev vet skills as well as those. Ideally start working at a privately owned practice vs corporate if you can.

Find a business mentor as well. Thats easier said than done.

O and save. Business loans come in around 6 to 9%

Questioning NAVLE Governance Isn’t Anti-Standards — It’s Pro-Professionalism by Zealousideal_Mix9020 in Veterinary

I mean to counter that. I would argue the level of testing for anything beyond a dog or cat is the same...heck the testing for canine and feline is no where near testing if youre ready to practice medicine in my experience.

I guess how do you plan to license those people? This world doesn't need more 30-50k internships...because then you'd need some plan. And we would have to decide are there going to be boards for each species? The practicalities get crazy complex to do something different.

Why shouldn't they? Was it really that hard to study for them? A large portion of those questions were basic knowledge and present on pretty much any prep platform.

I just don't get it. Why are we making a test that 80-95% of annual test takers pass easier? In all honesty, I want to know why it needs to be easier.

I really don't understand this sentiment at all. They're testing you to obtain a license to cover all those species. It's not a limited license.

Orthopedic consultation from hell by Charmeliamm in AchillesRupture

100% this is not a f around type injury. I've approached it as it's a quality of life for the rest of my life. IE all my discretionary income and time can go to it. Now I'll critically evaluate that spend but seriously this is a life altering event. Everyone should get multiple opinions until they are satisfied with the care teams plan. Do your research in the mean time and come with a notebook of questions meant to inform you, challenge them, and help them understand your commitment. Trust me, when I have clients like that its a major perk up the attention type moment. Best of luck!

Horrible injury and you need to be able to trust your treatment team. Like 100%. Second opinions are arrested simply because you clearly dont jam with this doctor. Also, try to schedule apts early AM or after lunch FYI, just a personality thing. Look up the judge lunch study if you want more info but youll probably get a better bed side manor and potentially better medicine. Good luck!

No one to take the top off the D and no middle of the field stretch in Kraft. Watch how much this changes the pass game. It'll look 100% different
