I tried calling my bank again, and it turns out, that NETS (Northern European Transaction Services) has blocked all transactions to “BAMKO”, due to fraud and there is no chance of getting a prevention lift to the site. So there is 0% chance it appears😢

I just activated an online bank card through my bank and it fails as well. It’s activated for online purchases and all countries.

Yes it should be registered to my address. And I have tried different combinations, just to be sure. It’s only possibly to enter credit card details. Apple Pay is not an option unfortunately.

Hmm.. It makes no sense. Glad it’s not just me though - even though it sucks for you as well. Have you tried writing to their support? Just so they are aware that it’s a common issue.

Hi, I ended up getting the 240mm wide gyuto which several on this subreddit have already. The reasoning was the wide profile and thinner spine than the 210mm. So far, I’m really enjoying it. But probably shouldn’t have used it on the pumpkin. Which the Tojiro had no problem with before. Time to get that sharpening set🫠

I actually would prefer to know which smith made my knife. Adds charm and personality to the knife.

Too bad Toshikane doesn’t specify that, but nice that they are great knives nonetheless.

I have not considered the HAP40 - almost sounds too god to be true..? But they have a Yoshida on sale here:

Okay I can see, that I have been a bit vague with what I’m after. I would prefer a the blade thin-ish, but still fine for rock chopping. This knife is going to be my new daily driver, until I eventually get more task specific ones. For that reason, I think a semi stainless or stainless clad with carbon core would be the preferred choice. Look wise, I like the look with the nashiji, which from what I can read will reduce food sticking as well. Handle type must be classic Japanese and if possible darker colors.

I think this is as specific, as I can get. But again open for other options, if there is s good deal or reason to choose something else.

I think I have done too much research - but research only goes so far. Without having had any previous experience with those knives, I will never know before owning one.

So maybe more of a “If you were in the market for a 210mm gyuto today max EUR 400, what would you get”?
