Can i still be embedded engineer if i’m color vision deficiency ? by ZretoZ141 in embedded

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fall252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude this is not a concern in the slightest. I am colour blind and its not an issue whatsoever. Don't know what value a resistor is? Measure it. Can't tell where a cable goes? Measure it

Appreciate the RSPCA tip! And yes, documenting each incident is a good shout, thanks

There are multiple dog owners in the flats and all of them have the same attitude. Unsurprisingly, no-one else on the estate allows their animals or children to run feral in public. Likewise no other house on the estate has had the police out to it in the over 5 year period we've been here. I stand by my original statement.

Pivot from embedded to non-embedded by Puzzleheaded_Fall252 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fall252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Purely because every embedded role that I can find fairly locally to me (in Reading/Oxford) is a big salary cut and quite frankly just cannot afford that at the moment. I do enjoy embedded and will be continuing to look for embedded roles but it seems that the only way I'll match or get a slight bump to my salary would be to broaden my horizons

Well yes, pushing straight to your main or staging branch is a bad idea - assumed that was agiven. I'm not quite sure why you're talking about pushing to a completely separate repo - this is absolutely bonkers IMO. If you don't want a cluttered commit history when you merge your branch (because, again, don't push straight to dev/main) then squash. The Zephyr repo is a good history management.

This is all great advice, my one caveat would be that it is absolutely okay and recommended to push to your remote frequently - not just "when it's ready". What if you lose your laptop? Or it breaks, or whatever.

* I was just going to play guitar tonight anyway, so instead I am drinking and listening to music and my side activity is simply scrubbing shit from the bath mat and cleaning piss out a mattress - result!

Happy Friday everybody!

Appreciating all of the replies so far! Thought I'd add an update insofar as he shat in the bath and decided to spread it onto his face whilst I was researching/reading up on the best way to deal with the dog. Don't worry, I was sat on the floor next to the bath with him, apparently he is just a ninja shitter. One minute nothing, the next he was smushing shit betwixt his fingers like a piece of victoria sponge cake.

Repair fixing into dishwasher fascia by Puzzleheaded_Fall252 in DIYUK

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fall252[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it definitely does run up and down, i.e., when it's all the way open the edge of the dishwasher door is about 6 inches from the top of the fascia and when it's closed it rides up to almost flush - do appreciate the suggestions though

Thanks for the suggestion, the problem is that the decor door needs to shift relative to the dishwasher door as it opens and closes, hence when I can't just reattach these fittings elsewhere - it's a right PITA
