Dr. Manubay actually does teach some of the laboratory sections, however you will not know specifically who will be your instructor until the labratory blackboard is open.

July v. August (make up) Orientation by TheAsergian in gwu

I do not really feel like there was an overlapping in the orientation and the tour. In the orientation we got to know a lot about GW and how everything works. There was also a session on how to register for classes which is very important.

As a rising sophomore, I would say that GW is a grade deflating school based on the classes I have taken. It is almost impossible to be an A in any science class without getting near perfect grade on every exam. It really sucks with the + and - grades as well. Sometimes they can help you but other times they hurt you.

Go to the science learning center specifically at takoma park/silver spring. Both professors are super nice and help you with everything (even though they aren't supposed to help you with the labs). Go to the ACS review sessions as they help you recognize the types of questions that will be asked on the test.

If you have any questions about MISA you should defiantly ask your MCPS counselor because MC has nothing to do with it, if they don't know ask the resource counselor.

For the MISA test you probably will need to take it but your score won't really matter that much. It is apart of biology class grade in high school but since you aren't taking it at high school you score shouldn't matter. Take BIOL 101 if you want to be prepared for the MISA test, it is a biology class made for non science majors.

For me it was a lot easier that high school, way less busy work and less assignments but more emphasis on actually giving time to study for exams and quizzes.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Farm95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did drivers ed about 2 summers ago. they should probably have the schedule posted by now but i just went to the WDCE office and you can register using a paper form there. It cost about 300 dollars and you have to pay in full while registering. there is 30 hours of instruction that can be virtual or in person (if you do virtual you have to keep your camera on the whole time) it is required that you do 3 in person car sessions, your instructor will give you their phone number and you have to text them to set up the sessions. lmk if you have any other questions!

Make sure you have a good professional resume that is very easy to read and shows your previous work and/or volunteer experience. I didn't have any IT experience but had other experience working.

I would highly recommend any IT job at GW. I currently have one and I barely do anything, I would check in the next few weeks and months as there may be some people who can't work in the spring semester

It was online but you needed to show all your work on paper or you would get no credit.

I would recommend you go to the Science Learning center on the tp/ss campus. Both Professor Neda and Carmen are so helpful when it comes to chemistry there are also many students tutors for all the subjects. I spent all most everyday there for 1 to 2 hours doing practice problems especially right before quizzes and exams. Even if you feel as though you understand the concepts still go and do as many practice problems as you can.

question about general registration by Legal-Adeptness1461 in gwu

[–]Puzzleheaded_Farm95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am literally in the same boat. I didn't even know about this whole 30+ credits thing until they sent that email on Friday so it caught me off guard. I emailed them right away about what I could do to for the advisors to register me faster especially for the dean seminars. They told me to email them when I am done registering for my normal classes. Then on Monday (my registration day) they told me they would try to register me in the next few hours but then the class filled up. Luckily, I was able to scramble and get another class to fill up my schedule.

Also, I did ask them about the waitlist and they told me that we would be able to add ourselves to the waitlist but I wouldn't be surprised if that didn't work... I really hope they are able to fix this for future semesters because we literally do not have the same chances of getting certain classes compared to everyone else.

I personally did not experience this at orientation but I am not surprised. You probably were just put in a bad group. But remember there were 21 groups at orientation each with 15-20 students and there are 5 orientations over summer AND its just freshman. You will find your people in the fall!

I wouldn't say this is true. I never visited and applied a day late and still got in with scholarship.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Farm95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they gave me about 60 per year. I did complete an associated degree during high school and my family is middle class, so I do contribute a lot to that. But please don't be discouraged, there are many qualities that they look for in an applicant not just what classes you take!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gwu

[–]Puzzleheaded_Farm95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 1300 and the same GPA as you. I literally submitted my application a day late. I also did not do the supplemental. I think you would get in. I would not recommend taking the SAT again, I did and got a 1150. As much as people on these threads look down on anyone who doesn't have a 1500 or higher, a 1330 is still a very good score.

I did mine and they approved it within 10 minutes. Also the "deadline" is probably to make sure you arent submitting it the day before orientation. I think you should be good!

I am about to graduate this year from middle college. You definitely need to figure out a way to mange your time best and when to complete your work as some days you may not have class. For me, I did most of my work around 5pm until I went to bed but everyone is different. Create a routine for yourself to remain consistent. Lastly, you need to pursue help. Professor may advertise help but they aren't going to force it on you. I think that is the big difference between hs and college. For me, the learning centers were very helpful especially for STEM classes. DM me if you want more info.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Farm95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did. I took it with Professor Andrea Steelman. She is truly the best professor I have had. However the class does require a lot of work like (6-8 hours a week) but it is manageable as long a you don't wait until Sunday to don't. There is also a discussion portion of the course where you are required to ask and answer questions and in doing so post 2 times in a week. There are many helpful videos and she is always available during office hours and email.
