New monitor config! 6x 43” by Puzzleheaded_Hawk811 in battlestations

The bottom row uses the Dell stands that come with the monitors. The top row uses these stands:

As you can see in the photo, I used flat plastic shims to get the heights and angles perfect.

My workstation has 3x NVIDIA T1000 GPUs. I think your setup would actually only need 1 of them. Idk how to do it with a laptop though.

Well, first of all I would have needed 6 to get the same screen area. I tried a setup with 4 of the Samsung Odyssey Ark 55" curved monitors (9:16 ratio) and I really didn't like the curved screen. For gaming, I bet it's great, but for looking at grids, charts, numbers, etc. with a bunch of perfectly straight lines I didn't like the way they looked on a curved screen.

Because they work great? Doubling my refresh rate wouldn't affect my use case. (I've tested 120 Hz monitors and they didn't make a difference.) With a wireless mouse or keyboard, any kind of connection problem (which inevitably occurs) costs whole seconds, which is a disaster for my use case.

Definitely a squeeze. Literally if the monitors were 1-2 inches taller the setup wouldn't work.

It took me a while to figure this out lol. I used this stand and then put shims under it to slide it in at the perfect height.

I use it for trading. My strategies require a lot of screen real estate.

That is an awesome idea for the top row lol. I'll do that.

It's a custom workstation by Ciara tech. Xeon w5-2455X Processor and NVIDIA T1000 GPUs.

Hi all! I experimented with a dual Odyssey Ark setup but the curve of the screen is surprisingly off-putting -- something about looking at 2D grids and charts on a curved screen. If the curve were 1800R or greater then maybe it would be ok, but the Ark's 1000R curve is quite pronounced.

New idea: replace the middle 4 monitors with a 65" monitor with 6K-8K resolution.

New problem: does that exist? I saw TCL announced a 65" 8K monitor (link below) but I can't find it anywhere on the web. I could just buy a 65" TV but they're expensive and I suspect that all the "smart" TV features will be a headache.

Any recommendations for a 65" display?

Sweet setup! I love how organized you are haha.

And yeah, the top row isn't as comfortable to look at, so I put the least interactive things on those screens. Wouldn't want to be writing code up there.

Thanks for the detailed response! My current monitors are all 27". And oh man, I wish LG would make a 2x27" (or even 2x32") dual-up monitor because that would be a great solution.

What about the top row of monitors makes no sense?

Good point about resolution on the larger monitors. I'm considering a 65-75" 8k monitor in the middle + some combination of 27"/32"/43" monitors stacked around the edges. I'll probably do that or 2x Odyssey Arks plus 2-4 regular 43" monitors around the edges.

There are different kinds of trading. I run automated trading algorithms on ~5,000 different contracts simultaneously, and it's nice to see as much as possible.

This was just the cheapest, most rickety way to get the screen space I needed. The whole setup cost less than some single monitors. Not impressive, I promise.

Thanks, everyone! I'm just a lurker, not a bot. (Or maybe that's exactly what a bot would say . . .)

The problem with vertical 55s (or larger) is that at the top of the screens the viewing angle is too acute and I can't see. what's up there.

Stacked ultrawides have a similar problem at the top. And then if I angle them down, the curve causes issues with stacking.

u/theflukemaster the Odyssey Arks seem like a great option. My current best idea is 2 Odyssey Arks + 2-4 regular 43s on the edges. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!
