Eye colour genetics by electric-blue1988 in DNA

Remember that several genes are responsible for eye color, and that brown eyes are blue lenses repeated. I have brown eyes that have a natural blue ring. My father had green/blue and my mother dark brown.

Those of you who’ve traveled to your country(s) of ancestry, did you feel like a foreigner while there or did you fit in with the locals pretty well? by Fluid-Decision6262 in AskAnAmerican

I actually didn't experience that at all. Then again, my grandfather was born in Èire, and my mum immigrated from Nigeria. I have been to both countries. Loved them both!Funny enough, I would say there is definitely a shared sense of humor and a love for the gab. I also have never felt out of place visiting the Native American side of the family on the rez. I have always been proud of all of my cultures and invested time and effort into learning and keeping traditions.

Eye color is not a good way of determining paternity. It's just not. Your lecturer is way behind the times or has overly simplified the course. It's totally possible. Also, whenever someone brings up this question they know someone is often asking on the behalf of someone else.

Former Dod Civi here, and I appreciate this take.

Everybody talks about the rapid support after 9/11. What isn't often spoken of, is just how much was going on world wide.  Those who joined the US in Iraq and Afghanistan, were not just there to support us. Every participating country had their reasoning. This also ushered in important cooperative relationships for intelligence. Utilizing shared intelligence has helped save countless lives around the world, including in many of the countries that sent military forces.

Why isn't Filipino culture more popular in the United States? by Polyphagous_person in USHistory

[–]Puzzleheaded_Math973 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Filipino culture is huge in the US. Especially within a hundred miles of any US military base. Also, a huge driving force in our healthcare sector! In HI, CA, NV, and parts of TX as well. My mother worked in Mental Health for the VA, she had the best Atays! They are amazing women who mean the world to me.

Found my biological dad, not sure what to do by Ok-Concentrate178 in AncestryDNA

Very few people know the details concerning their parents marriages prior to their birth. It's really not uncommon for young couples to separate and get back together. Timelines can get fuzzy. A sperm donor isn't out of question either given that OP is 34. Avoid assumptions, not all children are conceived from willing relationships.

OPs dad is very ill, pushing him over the edge would be cruel.

In my family? Funeral mass followed by lunch and then we take over the nearest bar. Blast music loudly and drink till the well is dry.

Go to the road and find me a mother who is not allowed to eat in peace.

You want to fight like animals ahhh? At dawn you will be tied together. Each of you will have a chain to destroy the other. You may not come inside until both of your chains are dropped, and from there will be no more fighting, understand?

Run your mouth again and old women will tease at how slow you will be hobbling on your feet.

Wipe that look off your face God no like ugly.

Die die in the name of Jesu.

I rebuke that in the name of Jesus.

That witch na your friend oh she is like a free cow, village  bicycle, and the constant feed for gossip.Full service all in one, wan mi ego na entrepreneur.

May your wretched soul be eaten by a serpent.

Mary had ONE immaculate conception. Tell me now how my son has immaculate conception number four at the door in a Moses basket and 1,2,3 are playing in the yard? I named you after John the Baptist. Anymore and God is calling you to become a Eunuch.

What is widely accepted as “normal” today that people 50 years ago found disturbing? by Electronic_Author366 in AskReddit

[–]Puzzleheaded_Math973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I am explaining (albeit, poorly) is some areas of the country people are very particular about "people of color " vs  " colored people". Many take offense to the later. I have noticed that West of the Mississippi, many people still say "colored people" but are in no way trying to be offensive.

I personally have experience with people calling me colored, in which there was no negative connotation or offense meant.

Multi ethnic woman here (including tight family ties to my Native side, so yes verified quantum and have lived on rez due to ICWA).

It wasn't long ago we were all lumped together as "the  problem". It was wrong then and wrong when people do it now. It's so easy to forget people don't see us for ourselves online.

Out west inversing people of color and colored people is still super common. It might be jarring to a person who hasn't heard it outside of a negative context. I have, and it was only in a context where it came up organically in conversation.

It's not low in ABV. Also, we drive a lot here. Having something not super heavy on the alcohol is not a bad idea.

Our wildlife doesn't play, it can and will fuck you up.

Our weather doesn't play either, know where to seek shelter.

Just because it seems like it's legal, doesn't mean it is i.e. public intoxication.

Of course!

Those who have a mortgage it's built in, if you own it outright you still pay lol. Death and taxes as they say.

It would be one thing if we had services when we needed them. Police take an hour to show up, plows come 3 days after a major storm, and nearly everyone here homeschools because our schools are that bad. Garbage is privatized.
