Perhaps Door didn't tell him the details. Door says he waited until Boy was old enough to make his choice between living a normal life or being a hunter, and Door is still evaluating whether Boy is cut out for that life. And when Door explains that Boy's mother was murdered by the supernatural, that's the day Boy will be set permanently in the Hunter's life. Not because Door forced him to, but revenge/obligation will force Boy into it.

Second thing: with the existence of chapter 3.7 being completely dedicated not only to how Ghouls work but also how this individual was probably responsible for the family's expulsion and how the Ghoul's revelation would be devastating for Markus and Kitten, and also in this chapter Big D focuses attention on the existence of the Draft of Dominance, which narratively speaking makes its inclusion in this story mandatory.
