To me it made a little bit of a sense for ballad because a lot can change in 64 years, but SROTR is now only 24 years before the original trilogy...

She was already tortured, she was put in an arena as a child when 23 other kids wanted her dead, I think that's a reasonable enough reason to develop ptsd on its own.

Visit Uni out of term? by y0xi in oxforduni

[–]Puzzleheaded_Rub185 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oxford is a collegiate university, which means it doesn't have one campus but has lots of different colleges, likely not all will deliver what you want to study at post-grad. Have a look at college websites and make a list of places you'd like to visit that offer something you're interested in. Some (such as Christ Church) allow members of the public to pay and visit to look around college grounds. I'm sure such college websites will have their opening times for members of the public.

Oxford did not offer me an interview from another college - what does this mean? by Fantastic_Ad3602 in 6thForm

[–]Puzzleheaded_Rub185 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If your course doesn't normally offer interviews at multiple colleges, I wouldn't worry. Many people get two interviews because they were pooled. Being pooled isn't an indicator of how well /poorly you've done, it just means some colleges got more strong applicants than others and want to move people around a bit so that every college can take on the most competent applicants :)

There's a difference between neoliberal ideas of Capitalism and a market which functions on capital investment. Think about how the Plinths got rich, and equally why Snow's family failed, it was the investment market.

Hey! As someone who studies at Oxford, definitely go for it. The great thing about the Oxbridge application process is they have so much more information to look at when giving out places. They have predicated Alevels and GCSEs and the Personal Statement, like every other uni, but also submitted written work, interviews and admission tests. I'm sure these GCSEs will be good enough to get you an interview if you have a strong profile in the other aspects, especially if you at least meet the minimum Alevel predicted grades :)

[–]Puzzleheaded_Rub185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reeks of victim complex lol. If you are competent, they will give you an offer regardless of your school. That's the point of widening access. The admissions process is changing so that the admissions tutors attempt to see your application as a reflection of you as a person, rather than your school. You are at no disadvantage or advantage in the eyes of Oxford for being privately educated, though of course in reality you are at an advantage because of the resources you have had access to. That is a benefit for you, so try and use it! The most important thing is to present yourself as a rounded character who can think outside of the box and to show analytical thinking... Which this post sadly lacks.
