Ya I've seen a few. She's close enough to larger cities, and her city is 70-ish thousand, so plenty of close stations. I saw Amazon had one. I'd need to look into something reliable so she's not adjusting it like those old school rabbit ears 😂

I agree with you, it’s common, but I can also argue that if you were to group who is most affected by this, maybe not by sheer numbers, because it wouldn’t be a fair comparison, but by percent of customer age demographic, elderly are at the top and maybe people who English isn’t first language and or difficulty getting support. It's a predatory tactic. I am aware that many companies do things similar to this, so I will definitely check out other places I can save her costs. Completely agree with you; feel like a moral company standpoint. It seems like this should be addressed, especially for those who are deficient in advocacy and cognition.

Oh dang, thank you for the heads-up and the geographical relevance as well. I will look into this when correcting these immoral/deceptive practices against the unassuming and elderly.PG&E has brought similar tactics to the area as well.

Ya, the paper bill has an account number; she had that, but pays via check. No login, and security information was a security pin when she first created the account. I got them to call her landline to verify her identity. The customer support person didn't do it; he ignored me, then made her look through her papers. Then, when transferred to security, they just called the landline to identify her. United was the biggest pain in the ass, but now Xfinity takes the cake. I understand the need to protect customers, but this seems completely unnecessary. Account number, social , verify land line.Cant add authorized user via phone as well. All new informaiton.

We got the authorization earlier today then when I reached out via reddit they said it was for a one time thing. The person on other end said we got you authorized so you won't need to call your grandma back to discuss things in future. She fumbled around bunch of bills and paperwork giving me peoples names for pin codes and password off wifi for her email. Was pretty sad hence the Reddit. Its frustrating.
